Our manager philippe clement and nils koppen want to make rangers the scottish version of porto and want to mirror the way they work as a club regarding finding talent from south america and give them the chance to sign for rangers and establish themselves, before going on to play in the english premier league etc ? Obviously we then sell them for big money and make sure our player trading model starts to bear fruit ? I hope we start this signing of young south american targets by signing oscar cortes and jefte ?.

evening coops

much as was excited by clement and early appearances, i'm really struggling to come to terms with, if true, that he would tell players they have no future at the club, while they are involved in a title fight with 6 games to play and in a semi final,

if that is trueit simply is beyond belief, players aren't fans, they care only about the bank account and they're own futures, unless they're real gers fans of course, if he did do this then he effectively threw the title away if you ask me, i care about the title this season, anything else can wait,

Bringing in talent from south America gives me the fear.
Rarely do they fo well in our country.

I think PC just needs to focus on winning the league then we can focus on replicating Porto.

In fact I’ll take a step back, he just needs to beat Celtic, somebody that he’s not managed yet.

Blue we need to try something, we've failed by bringing players from England lower league and if we can get quality like cortes then we should try and get them.

Couldn't have put it any better myself, Dado. Nailed it, mate!

Id rather try brazil etc than league 1 in england.
Also, i don't beLieve PC told players theyd be leaving unless it was just balogun and barasic etc the obvious ones. That wouldn't cause a fuss in dressing room.

Would like Jefte and Cortes signed along with Sima couple of cb's cm couple of cf's, wouldn't mind one of the cf's being Mcburnie, most of that will only come with sales, Tavernier Goldson Davies Cifuentes Hagi Lammers Wright Dessers and Dowell i really like him but not available regular, rather keep Butland if possible, maybe Lundstram but only on Rangers terms, would also like Sterling and Yilmaz as our fullbacks next season.

Scandinavia and Netherlands is where I’d be scouting for talent. They usually do well in our league and majority are in our price range.

big dado, you mean thise two first team players being told is fine, during a time your expecting them to lose blood for the club,

Isn’t it difficult for British clubs to bring in young talent from South America due to work permits?

I don't think our midfield is too bad. it's the defence and front line that give me the fear.

I wouldn’t be against this type of model. The reason Portuguese and Spanish clubs are successful in this I think is partially a much easier transition for young South American players based on culture, climate and languages. Dutch clubs seem to have some success with this aswell so we should be looking at their methods. We would of course be competing with these other leagues also.

What? Are you serious, Mark? Our midfield against them has been non existent! Honestly, if you're using any team outwith the tims as a benchmark (may as well throw R County and Dundee in there), you may as well just bury your head in the sand. Our midfield is a massive part of the problem as the tims just play right through them.

Tom I would imagine that balogun and barasic know without being told, obviously if they were wanted next season then contract talks would have happened by now.

Raise, our defence and front line are a much bigger problem than the midfield.

Theglasgowranger - Agreed and also Eastern bloc countries (Latvia Estonia Belarus et al) have plenty of talent too and many happy to play in the West for reasonable salaries.

The midfield is just as big a problem as our defence, Mark. Honestly mate, it obvious that we have major problems in midfield when we play the tims.

Don’t think many of us would have second guessed our loan signings in January -Silva, Cortes, and Diomande.
No doubt it will be the same in the next transfer window, and NK and PC have a big task ahead of them in reshaping the squad especially with so many players out of contract.

Dado, I agree 100%, so put yourself in PC's position. If your main objective is to win the league and you have had six months to have a good look at the motley crew masquerading as football players, what is your reaction.
For me it would be, ok, I have looked at this squad, we are seven or eight players short in terms of quality, a winning mentality and we don't have the guts for a fight.
Indeed a couple of the players that would make a difference are injury prone and are at the end of their contract.
I am sure that PC and his team will know the players that could make a difference and could acclimatise to the peculiarity of Scottish Football. So he goes to the Board and says I need 8 players initially, wages can most likely be covered by the departing Bosmans but the cost is likely to be £30k and by the way, here is the list of players that are currently on contract that won't be in the squad, we need to get rid of them.
What do you reckon the reaction of the current Board will be!
That is a big part of where our problem lies.

There's not one out of contract player that will be missed, Copland1. The wages they will free up lows for better players than Roofe, Lundstram and Barasic.

Anyone thought about management being approached by a players agent and being asked the question. Would expect it to happen to allow the player to plan also.
