John, not sure it's got anything to do with McInnes not being there.
He wasn't physically ready last year, and really benefited from the loan down south.
He has come back much bigger and stronger.
Suspect he'll be in and out of the team a lot this season, but the team at Hearts know how to manage their young players.

Good to see McPake doing well. He seemed to be destined to drift out the game until St Johnstone gave him what looked like a final chance, and he woke up and grabbed it. He's been away from Rangers for around 5 years now, so it's taken him a while to get a grip of himself. Likewise, Lowry, a boy I really rated as a talent who failed to take his opportunities.
I don't know whether finding himself in the lower leagues in England was a reality check for his ego, but something's changed. I have to say though, I hope he has a stinker on Saturday. I don't blame the club for either not making it here; they both were on the verge of doing so, and by all accounts wasted it themselves.

I agree, John. Have said a number of times how much I'd love us to sign him - I even had the audacity to claim it'd be as good as a marquee signing if we could get it over the line.
Really hope to see Wilson, C.Miller, McPake and Mulligan get call ups from the new Scotland boss, along with both L.Miller and Curtis.
Add to that McCraken.
Needs freshened up with a bit of energy and drive - move on from the staleness of Clarke.

EHL, Interesting re Curtis. I know he went to WC etc, so must be rated, but I'm yet to be convinced by him in a Gers stripe.

Broste, Curtis, at 20, should probably be a little further ahead in his development than he is - but technically he's very good.
He needs to find his position and start to own it. Think having depth of squad this year will help him develop, as he'll learn a lot from the variety of attacking options we now have.
