So European football is not happening this year. anyone know what's happening with transfers? In and out? Kelsy waiting on a visa i know that much but are the board going to back McInnes still?

Got to imagine this alters plans.
Less games, and less of a selling point for some players potentially coming to the club as they may want some form of European competition.

It's not about backing McInnes. These players would be getting signed no matter who the manager is, that's part of the reason why McInnes isn't going to work in this set up. He is an 'old school' manager who wants to control the team set up and therefore bring in players to play a certain way, the way he wants a team to play. We as a club aren't really operating like that.
We are wanting to bring in players who are identified as having certain qualities and are also likely to develop in order to increase in value. There is nothing wrong with this approach, lots of clubs are now operating like this and being successful (teams like Brighton for one). But what it requires is a more 'flexible' 'First team Coach' who can work with a group of players and mould them into a team utilising tactics and formations that best suit the types of qualities the players that are brought in actually have. I don't believe McInnes has a clue how to do this.
He virtually said it last night. He doesn't know what type of team we are. Possession based, counter attacking, direct 🤷. He is struggling to work out how to utilise the players at his disposal because he is more used to a rigid style that he's probably always used (during his spells at Aberdeen, Kilmarnock and Hearts). This is also shown by the constant changes in tactics, set up, and constant half time subs. He has no clue how to use the players he has, and the players realise this and are likely losing all confidence in him.
You could blame this on recruitment, but it's the way a lot of clubs now operate. What it requires is an intelligent, flexible coach to work with a group such as this, utilise their attributes in a way that suits the majority of the players, decide on a specific style, and work hard to implement that style, whilst improving any weaknesses the players have. I don't think McInnes can do this.

The only 'qualities' that these players all have in common are that they brick it when there is any sort of pressure on them. The place is toxic right now, and it's only going to end one way for McInnes, sadly.

Gers78, I fear you are spot on. While the first half was extremely poor, the side still had a shape and general system of play, however making 3 subs at ht when 1-0 up in tie seemed senseless and, worse, there was no evidence as to what we sought to achieve by changing shape and personnel.
What descended from there was a cycle of confusion and actually hard to explain - 4-2-3-1 at 45 mins led to 4-4-2, 3-5-2, 3-4-3 variation in remainder of the match - that's on McInnes - he knows the players and it's his job to find a system which gets you through a tie which tbf was not a tricky or challenging ask.
I do feel DMc also has very little to fall back on in his coaching staff - who is there to council him or see a bigger picture tactically - Akin to Mick Beale under Gerrard etc.
One thing that I can't lay at the feet of this manager or a number who have gone before is why do we seem to have just 2 gears that we play in? If it's about individuals then we have clearly had the opportunity to recycle players, but the ones who come in appear to adopt the same approach and culture - it really doesn't add up, and I can't understand why it persists.

imo it means going on to secondary targets ie, instead of Dubbery we are to go for the Colombian lad in Poland as he's a third of the price. Outgoings are also going to be sold under value, just my opinion btw.

Gers78, you say the reason it won't work for McInnes is because these players will be brought in no matter who the manager is, and say the same thing works at Brighton. It worked for McInnes last year at Hearts, using the same software as Brighton.
He had to work with players last year that they brought in and did pretty well. The blame here, in my opinion, is the players we have don't have any fight in them.

Rangers Royal, to be honest, McInnes got a bit lucky last year, partly due to how awful we were (once again). The second half of last year, after the Jan window, Hearts struggled and were only still in the race due to how bad us and Celtic were for periods last year.
As a number of pundits stated, they didn't feel Hearts would be too disappointed in losing McInnes because they also felt he wasn't the type of manager to work under the Brighton analytical model, that he wanted more control over the types of players brought in and that he wouldn't be able to continue to work well under their set up. I fear they were correct for the reasons I outlined above.
In all honesty, McInnes has never really done anything to deserve to be Rangers manager.
In all his managerial career he's won 1 cup and 1 promotion. That's in 15 years. He's only ever really taken any team to around the position that realistically they 'should be in'. I've never seen him actually being able to get a team to win a game against an opponent that are fundamentally better than whatever team he was managing at the time.
The only game I can remember this happening was when Aberdeen beat Celtic 1-0 at Celtic Park, the game which, by doing so, stopped us coming second (not that I'm saying Celtic laid down or anything!).
He's basically a very average manager with very limited abilities.

We need to decide if it's McInnes or Purdy problem or both, I tend to think Purdy is main issue.

The players would get signed, it doesn't matter who the manager is??? That in itself self tells you what you need to know. Why is the manager not picking the players he wants to fit his system? Utter shambles.
There you go, Derek, there's a bunch of new players for ya. Do what you can with them. Absolutely reeks of people that haven't got a clue and are just throwing money at it.
