Celta Vigo apparently ready to hijack Rangers deal for Couhaib Driouech
07 Aug 2026 10:02:01
Would you rather play and live in the sun?
Or would you rather have midweeks in winter away to Aberdeen.
07 Aug 2026 10:22:48
I personally am starting to get annoyed at Derek. Every press conference he is giving information away.
I am sure Celta Vigo would know Rangers are after him, but for him to spill every single conference is unbelievably unprofessional.
You simply say "It wouldn't be fair to speak of any players who are under contract at another club."
I was delighted when Derek got announced, but that's 2 games with the wrong tactics and starting line up, and so far I am not impressed with his press conferences relating to transfers.
07 Aug 2026 10:31:16
I know I'm a cynic, but it's another I didn't believe in. Hope I'm proved wrong and we get a good one over the line at some point.
07 Aug 2026 10:43:17
Near every player linked to us hasn't worked out and near everyone we have signed seems to have under the radar.
So I had my doubts on this from the off.
Still, hope we sign the lad obviously, but would be more surprised if we did than if we didn't.
07 Aug 2026 10:44:48
Watp, he loves the sound of his own voice.
07 Aug 2026 10:50:02
I think McInnes is a step backwards, but, of course, he has my backing. Just do not think it's the right approach.
07 Aug 2026 10:56:48
CalB, we peaked with Gio. Since then it's backwards step after backwards step.
07 Aug 2026 11:00:04
John2575 couldn't agree more. If Walter was around he would be saying do your talking on the pitch, simple.
07 Aug 2026 11:00:30
I hope our manager can get a tune out these players. That was dire yesterday. Big Chuck playing attacking mid looked like he was. He is much better at late runs into the box from deep. Midfield should have been Raskin, Chucky holding, and Aasgaard in front, attacking mid. Gassama and Yokota on wings. It was a very weird line up.
07 Aug 2026 11:20:37
CalB, a step back from what? We've been terrible for years, won nothing and finished behind him in the league last season. Us finishing second this season is embarrassingly a step forward.
07 Aug 2026 11:25:32
SSN reporting that PSV have rejected our bid of £6m.
07 Aug 2026 11:34:09
Is McInnes' transfer humdingers worse than Beale's? At least Beale managed to look them in the eyes. Seems Derek can't even get to that point.
07 Aug 2026 12:07:26
It's really quite simple, you don't pay the asking price, you don't get the goods.
07 Aug 2026 12:07:38
The close season was supposed to be a time for the club to develop. Can any fan see a positive?
1. Team
The defence has gone backwards. The midfield has become overloaded with defensive players.
The forwards don't appear to be scoring.
The team selections are questionable.
2. Manager
Hearts/Aberdeen/Kilmarnock were all stuffy teams. What's happened with supposedly better players?
As pointed out, appears to give false hope re new players.
Team selections dubious.
3. Board
I'm hoping that, as they are successful business people, they are aware of what's required at the club.
Do they take advice from actual ex players re what's required in the park and club?
There appears to be a lot of coming and going in the background. Why? Are they being attracted elsewhere? Or sacked or resigning as they see the proverbial writing on the wall.
4. Transfers
Does the team actually know what they are doing?
I suspect it's a complicated process, agents throwing spanners in the works to suit their clients.
Players being offered contracts appear in the press, again I suspect "agents".
More attractive proposals on the continent.
In short, if you had the choice of playing in another country compared with Scotland, would you not take it? Scottish football is on a downward spiral, WC and initial European games are evidence of that.
Dahl signing for Hull is a prime example. The size of the clubs is non-comparable. The attraction of the EPL is understandable.
The club seems so so negative at this time. I'm keeping everything crossed that we start to develop and move onwards and upwards!
07 Aug 2026 12:24:11
The clubs run by fannys. Simple. That team will be lucky to finish 3rd. Fans need to act now. Every window it gets worse.
07 Aug 2026 12:34:00
Beale's transfer business was good: Butland (we sold him for £3m profit), Sterling (disliked right now but has been liked for years), Dessers (50+ goals in 100 games, then sold for the money we paid for him), Sima (we should have made the deal permanent), Raskin (we'll make about £20m on him), etc.
Rangers will have made millions in profit from Beale's business after all is said and done.
07 Aug 2026 12:34:46
@bluesincebirth, imo we are worse off than we were last season. We've lost wingers and defence is a shambles. Striking options, I feel, haven't been improved upon either. I never rated and will never rate Shankland. But all my opinion, of course.
07 Aug 2026 12:40:20
Dougie, what do you suggest the fans do?
07 Aug 2026 12:40:32
Team needs a lot of work but I fully back the manager because I believe he's the right choice. I was not a fan of Martin or Rohl at all. Yes, McInness is being backed but not in the positions we've been crying out for for years. We need to start getting rid of players like Aasgaard and Diomande.
07 Aug 2026 12:46:44
Blue, we didn't sign Dahl cause we didn't match the valuation & messed about getting defensive midfielders. Aasagaard the only forward thinking mid.
Agree with point 1 & 2. We've regressed from Rohl, & yes, we fell apart at the end, but we had the best defence with Motherwell going into the end of the season under him. We weren't fantastic, but at least played faster & gave the strikers chances. McInnes has got his tactics wrong in the past 2 games, got his selections wrong & made questionable subs imo.
Point 3, we have a Ranger man as a manager, one as a CEO & fans as players that should know what's required.
Being an ex player means nothing, they'll think they know what's needed, but that is based on them playing 20 years ago & not modern time, plus Barry Ferguson was hopeless with ex back up.
Point 4, McInnes is as much to blame as the recruitment team, as he's picked players over others & said no to 2 OoCs who agreed to join us after he joined & who knows what else. Our recruitment team does need to be better & we lack a DoF to focus on what is exactly needed. Thelwell Sr said defense would be a focus this season, hence the loans, but we focused on other positions first.
07 Aug 2026 12:51:13
Folk can stick up for the team. Or all new guy but it reeks of last season.
We do look worse on the park than last season.
The defence is bloody woeful at times.
Fernandez has been shocking.
He's taken 2 steps back.
Going forward, we have no ideas.
So far, on evidence.
McInness is out of his depth.
First 2 games, tactics n team picks have been questionable.
Hopefully, we get better guys.
07 Aug 2026 12:52:02
We lost patience with Gio, the club was in a mess and fecked about Clement.
McIness is our level now, as depressing as it sounds.
07 Aug 2026 12:56:32
Rohlwithcheese, very selective in the names you mention, didn't mention Lammers and Dowell, for example, and if you think Sterling was a good signing given how little he actually plays, and Dessers, who only looks good in comparison to what we currently have, then it shows how far standards have fallen starting with the Gio/Ross Wilson years and carrying on and getting worse until now.
07 Aug 2026 13:09:23
Looks like we will never give any manager a break, talks too much, doesn't say enough. Two games in, and the Ibrox jury is ready to return a verdict, pathetic.
07 Aug 2026 13:03:20
DJB what out of contracts did he say no to? Get the names out there.
07 Aug 2026 13:39:31
Wsl, Dessers was a good signing, over 50 goals in 2 seasons. Chermiti won't do that, and let's see if Shanks can. Hopefully he does.
07 Aug 2026 14:48:42
Billy, I think he is a step back in managerial terms from Beale, Clement and Rohl. Yes, we can all look at them and say they failed in different ways.
I still think all 3 are better coaches than McInnes, but at the end of the day one thing is certain and someone needs to be given time.
We can't keep changing manager, constantly changing transfer strategy and play style.
07 Aug 2026 15:16:05
Being a Rangers fan is soul destroying. Fair play to the ones who still have their enthusiasm.
Fans will find anything to turn on the manager. Won't be long until calls for his head.
Like it or not, we are where we are due to constant changes and some folk just can't see it.
07 Aug 2026 15:23:22
I agree with most comments, but the simple question is - who would manage Rangers? Who would come to us? There's very little interest in us or Celtic now. Football has changed a lot. Please don't say Gerrard! We can talk about Clement and Gio, but let's not be kidded.
Fans booed and wanted them sacked. Almost every game, towards the end of Clement's time, was booed at half and full time, to the point we were made a mockery of on social media. No idea where this sudden "should have gave Gio and Clement more time" is coming from.
07 Aug 2026 15:57:40
Dougieboy, just what exactly are you wanting the fans to do? Let the hidden faced wans rush onto the pitch, or let them surround a bus.
Get a grip o yersell back to the back of the class, Sunnyboy.
