Just for debate guys!
Is it just a coincidence that we get a Rangers minded coach, Rangers minded players that we suddenly look a proper team fighting for everything? Is McInnes leaning on the that core to drive the standards in training and around the club?
I loved EHL telling us about shanks doing a speech before the first o. f at Ibrox and supposedly going rite over board 😂 could you get the same passion from Tavernier? I'm not sure you could, just my opinion though. We just looked so fired up for those games, IMHO that comes from guys like shanks, mcrorie, penrice, the manager getting in the players ears about what it means to them, guys like nico, Naderi, minsu, Sterling that already get it, that mixture is something we needed, will be huge for us going forward this year. Thoughts?

Boy blue, we have been missing Rangers supporting players for a long time, only a few will drive the standards, mate, I'm really chuffed the direction our club is moving in.

For me the managers we've had previously have tried to win purely by playing better football. What McInnes and shankland etc bring is a fighting mentality. A mentality that we won't be bullied.
If you can add that to a talented bunch then you have a real chance. That's just an observation the previous managers may have been getting them fired up but it doesn't look like it.

I don't think it is a coincidence Boy Blue. I just wish we had got McInnes years ago. Mentality has been an issue at the club for years. A lot of people have changed their tune as many said we did not need them and used Ange's Celtic as an example.
I don't think its a coincidence either that a proper two up top has been a game changer.

Good post BB4 I was asking a few weeks ago where's these like minded players and leaders were as it wasn't happening. Looks like they have arrived without getting too far ahead of myself.

Go watch the Goldson open goal interview and he hits the nail on the head with what Gerrard figured out and it seems very similar to DM now. Get the ball forward quickly and just win, you don't need to play football against Killie he said. Most of our other coaches tried to play possession based style that doesn't work in our league.
Clement was similar but feel his hands were tied behind his back at the time with everything going on at the club.
Goldson also spoke highly of Tav saying he was the only player that would never hide no matter how hard it got.

I just don't buy that's the difference. For me it's all about squad and quality. Last year we dominated a double header against Celtic but did not have the quality to get the result. This season we have more quality and that's the difference.
I think it's a positive to have Rangers fans in the dressing room but I don't think it's necessary to get the club. Many overseas players have came here over the years and got the club very quickly.
Our squad has the best quality and depth for a number of years. Taken a lot of work to get that in place and for me that's the key to success. The manager also takes enormous credit for getting them to gel so quickly.

Having a bit of Rangersness about the club is great but ultimately its all about quality . If you look at the team that just won the two OF games we only had one Scot starting, that is less not more than we've had over the last couple of seasons. Obviously Shankland is injured but McCrorie can't get into the team because Sterling and probably Nedeljkovic have more quality than him.
Maybe McInnes style of play is more effective than other managers of late but it remains to be seen if we can keep it going , I hope so. I get shot down for saying it but there are not enough quality Scottish players , that we can afford, who we could bring in and be of the same standard as our foreign imports ( maybe keep Barron and not sign Devlin would be the exception to that statement).

Rohl never had us playing brilliant football, he was all about getting the ball high, quick and getting up the pitch quickly, when Naderi came in he went 2 up top with Chermiti and we were better till Naderi got injured. The split happened and it looked like we ran of steam, we'll never know if anything went on behind the scenes to try and undermine Rohl. Rohl also said the fitness wasn't up to standard.
McInnes has now picked up how Rohl left but he's only done it against Celtic twice and before we didn't play anything like that so it's all about the next game and that's more important. Has McInnes turned it around? Yes but it's still a long season and we've already been affected by injuries, he also has the most depth we've had in years except CB. I also think he's had the freshest of starts with a lot of the old guard gone and it's just mainly new players left.
I don't believe having Rangers minded/fans as players or as manager matters at all, don't think it matters for any team. Was Gio not Rangers minded?
