Was it just me, or were Raskin and Devlin dropping FAR too deep to collect the ball?
At times we had both midfielders practically sitting on top of the centre-backs, leaving a massive gap between midfield and the forward line. No wonder the forwards looked isolated.
One of the things I actually liked against Aberdeen was seeing the midfielders press higher and keep the team compact. It gave us much better connections between midfield and attack.
But if Devlin isn't that player who is going to consistently get higher up the pitch and link with the forwards, then surely it has to be Raskin.
Raskin has the ability to carry the ball, play through the lines and actually influence the game further forward. Devlin is much more suited to sitting, covering and doing the dirty work.
So why are we constantly asking both of them to come deep?
Raskin deeper with Devlin higher makes little sense to me. It should be the other way round.
Let Devlin protect the back four and let Raskin get closer to the attack. We need midfielders occupying the space between the opposition midfield and defence, not creating another 20-yard gap for the forwards to try and bridge themselves.
The Aberdeen game showed that simply having the midfield 10–15 yards higher makes us look a completely different team. Surely we need to build on that rather than going back to the same problem.

I think the players are very nervous with regards to Manny just now, and you'll probably notice them all playing against the manager's wishes a wee but simply out of instinct towards Manny's vulnerabilities now.

I really like Fernandez, but he needs to be taken out of the team right now, Godfrey in next game.

I think he needs a reality check, my star, he's not as good as his advisors are telling him.
If he works hard and improves, then a move will come, if not he'll end up back in League 1.

We will get ripped apart against them 2 weeks on the bounce if Manny is still in the team. He has really fallen by the wayside. He absolutely terrifies me when he's on the ball, he's a liability at the moment. It's a hard watch.

What's worse, Blue49, he looks like he's impacting Makhanya's confidence, who appears to be more worried about Fernandez than the man he's marking.
Got to get him out the team asap and get him wanting to work hard for a move. Nobody will be interested in him either, his current performances. If he's not smart, we will be the biggest team he ever plays for.

Maybe Raskin and Devlin kept dropping back because Manny is causing such panic like commentary and pundits were all saying. That and he was just punting it miles over them when he wasn't passin to Mak.
