Just witnessed the strangest of things, I left foot cross, from the left side by a left footed player resulting in a headed goal, that'll never catch on.

03 Aug 2026 21:14:42
But it wasn't from a winger, though, Dado, so it doesn't count. They're still not allowed.

03 Aug 2026 21:22:50
😂😂 I can't argue with that logic, Kaiser. 😂😂

03 Aug 2026 21:30:01
I just witnessed the strangest of things, Dado. Ref only added 3 mins on at their game where they were leading, or was it because Dundee have a long journey home. 🤔

03 Aug 2026 21:33:13
Yip, their player of the year, 21 goals, 10 assists. Off to a flyer again this year, yet Celtic fans don't like him. 👀 I wouldn't mind having his contribution and our fans not liking him.

I'm just glad he blew the whistle, Laudrup. Massive improvement in the standards of refereeing from last season.

03 Aug 2026 21:43:20
Our full midfield will be lucky to hit those numbers combined, BB4.

03 Aug 2026 22:07:36
As it stands, that could definitely be the case, Dado, it's worrying mate.

03 Aug 2026 22:21:35
Laudrup, 2 minutes for subs, time for restarting after goal, I don't know if any injuries, but we do know if Celtic wasn't winning it would be more than 3 minutes. Well, I do. Get some saying no, and I'm cool with that.

Rangers are about to sign a right-winger that is left-footed. We play with inverted wingers. That's modern football.

The entire point of the wide layer coming inside is so the full-back will follow, thus dragging him out of position.

The full-back then has space to overlap.

I think we'll need a new rb who can overlap and put a cross in, but we're moving in the right direction.

That's worked wonders for us over the last ten years, rinse and repeat the same s***y tactics under the banner of 'Morden football', and scratch our head as to why it doesn't work. Great strategy!

03 Aug 2026 22:51:23
Also worth noting that those tactics play right into the hand of low block, which seems to beat us year after year.

03 Aug 2026 23:12:51
We definitely need a leftwing to link up with Rommens because Gassama is all about Gassama, he is predictable as f***, does the same rubbish every time.

It sounds like some of you want to go back to the 1990s and play a 4-4-2, so we can get overrun by 3 man midfields? Don't you remember Celtic putting Hatate on at half-time last season and it totally changed the game? Even against Dundee United we struggled to control the middle of the pitch and that's where games are won and lost. If you control the centre of the pitch, you spend the game defending less, and attacking more. This is why the 4-3-3 and 4-2-3-1 became so prominent.

The three forwards with inverted wingers are also a massive upgrade over the old fashioned 4-4-2.

If an opposition team tries to man mark those three forwards they get dragged all over the place. The wingers invert, full-backs follow, space is created outside. The CF drops deep, CBs follow, and there's space in behind. The entire point is to exploit the opponents' desire to man mark and use it against them. With a 4-4-2, players can simply be man marked and there is no dragging opponents' defences out of position.

4-4-2 is yesterday's football.

U say "We play inverted wingers", well we don't at the moment because we don't have any, first of all, and we've not had a half decent RW since Candeias and we shoved Hagi out there.

And how do u know how McInnes plans to play them in the future? Must we stick to it because that's what we did before (and failed for years), or maybe can we try and do both for a change.

Celtic seem to do pretty well with that formation, scooping up something like 14 out of the last 15 titles, numerous cups to go with it. It's about having the players to suit the system, something we've become brilliant at getting wrong. Granted they weren't great last season, but the difference came down to a man that is brilliant at motivating a dressing room, unfortunately for us.

The bad thing for us is that I don't believe they'll be that bad again. It was there for the taking. We bottled it big time.

Who said anything about playing 4-4-2? Right footed players, wide players can play more than one formation just as lefties can. Was Chermiti's goal of the season not from a right footed cross from the right? It's just a good option and also good to see players who are able to beat people down the line.

The "modern football" we played, which was pretty much entirely dependant on Tav for goals and assists, failed miserably for years, so would be good to see something different.
