There was talk of players signings pre contract agreements (which have yet to be announced) - would those players have the right to change their decision if the management changes?

I appreciate they may have signed a contract but just wondering if they put clauses like management changes in there?

They are signed with the club and not the manager, Zikos, so no, they can't just say oh no you changed manager, I'm not joining.

Unless, as you say, there is a clause or something, but that would be highly unlikely, as I don't think I've heard of such a clause before.

Pretty sure if they were really unhappy there could be some sort of resolution. Both, if a player didn't want to come or the manager didn't want him. Wouldn't want to bring an unhappy player in and unsettle the place right away.

Pretty sure Trippier is doing it now with Wolves after they sacked O'Neil.

{Ed001's Note - Trippier is not and they sacked O'Neil months ago, it was Rob Edwards they just fired but Trippier has posted to say it has made no difference to his decision.}

Always financial penalties if someone breaks an agreement, who the manager is, is never in there. If it was, surely the same would be for every contract. Player signed for a certain manager, and they were sacked.

Article 17 of FIFA rules cover this. Agreement is with club and not with manager.

Thanks for the info, I just thought it might change the circumstances of the deal.

For example, if someone signs a deal on the basis that they are going to be a key player in the squad / featuring in Europe etc. If need one manager.

To then be told the new manager sees you as a reserve player, hopefully pushing for a starting place in the future.

Then why even sign?

I know that type of thing can happen at anytime when a new manager comes in, but thought this might be a bit different as the change has happened before the players actually joined.

I think Sky and the papers had reported that Trippier was reconsidering his decision. How much truth was in that, I don't know. I don't know anymore about it, but can see that Ed has said no change.

{Ed001's Note - there was no truth according to the man himself, I think it was just guesswork/assumption on the part of the papers.}

If it's an out of contract player who changes his mind, I doubt the club would be too hard to deal with, as it hasn't cost them anything, unless it's someone they hoped to make a good profit on down the line.

Personally, I think all of this is paper talk or fans who think that the manager signs players. Any player who signs for us, if they look back at our record, would know the manager is only likely to be there for a year at most. So, signing for a manager in our case would be a silly way to look at it for the player.

Also, reason why we need a club style of play and tactics. So that when the manager leaves, there is no difference to the players on that part anyway. They will have signed for the club with the old manager after being persuaded on the style he would be fitting into.
