Gerrard 2018/2019 Season:-
20 players in.
Knocked out LC at semi-finals by 4th best side Aberdeen.
Knocked out SC at quarter finals by 4th best side Aberdeen.
2.05 points per game.
2.15 goals for per game.
0.7 goals against per game.
Finished 2nd, 9 points behind. But the league was already won before the split.
Finished 3rd in EL Group.
Gerrard had a 30 goal a season striker that cost £1 million.
Rohl 2025/2026 Season:-
According to some, only Naderi was a Rohl signing.
Knocked out LC at semi-finals by current 2nd best side Celtic.
Knocked out SC at quarter finals by current 2nd best side Celtic.
2.14 points per game.
2.21 goals for per game.
1.07 goals against per game.
Currently 3rd, 8 points behind leaders Hearts after taking over Rangers in 10th place and getting us back into a title fight.
Horrendous EL campaign.
Rohl has a £10 million striker that doesn't score enough.
Let's not confuse Gerrard winning the title in his 3rd season with his own team.
With where Rohl has taken us with players that aren't fit for purpose.

MPH, that 30 goal striker was only one season, and his best goal scoring league campaign was 17. Chermiti, as bad as people think he is/was, has 11 league goals, which was Morelos' average league goals.

You seriously comparing those two seasons? Gerrard inherited a team that finished 3rd with a far worse squad at his disposal. Rohl inherited a squad that spent 30 odd million and spent 10m himself more than Gerrard got. Gerrard would have won that league if he came in instead of Rohl.

TSH, I was desperate for Gerrard after Martin, doubtful if he'd win the league, even doubtful if he'd have had us challenging.

Don't know how often this needs repeating, but Gerrard never had to play any games with the team he "inherited". He made 20 signings to completely change it, so what was there the season before is totally irrelevant. Rohl has had to work with what our owners apologised and sacked people for 3 months then only 4 players. There is no comparison.

I am comparing those 2 seasons, Struth.
Gerrard inherited Tav, Morelos, Jack in 2018.
He brought in McGregor, Barisic, Goldson, Arfield, Kent, Defoe, Davis, Kamara in 2018.
Do those players look familiar?
The majority of whom played a part in delivering 55.
Now look at what Rohl has inherited, and yet his stats aren't much different.

It's like a constant misrepresentation of what it was like under Gerrard sometimes, MPH, because he eventually won the league. And saying anything different is anti Gerrard. He never played a single game with Pedro's squad. His 1st season squad was made up of many of those that led us to the league. He signed

But does that achievement gloss over his actual achievement as a manager? As he's done hee haw since.

Desperate for Gerrard after Martin. He would even come close to my list now. He would have steadied the ship with players respecting him from day one at that time, not now.

I get what you're saying now MPH, I just think compare the Celtic team back then to now. I think this is the worst it's been and we can't compete. Rohl has won 1 in 5 v Celtic, 1 in 3 v Hearts, and dropped points against the rest of the top 6. I don't think he's the answer or has shown why he merited the job. He is a young inexperienced manager that kept Sheffield Wed up in the Championship. Only reason we went for him was his age and hope he did well. Took Gerrard 3 years to get a squad capable of beating Celtic, but there were signs from the start we were building something under him.
I know he lost games he should have won, but what style or fight have we seen lately. Gerrard got less than what we have spent this season in 3 years. I think Gerrard would have won the league, I even think Barry would have won it if we backed him, as he would have signed Shankland and moved for Cerny. We are starting next season same way we have since Beale. Any dropped points at start of next season and the fans will demand change.
