Everyone has a different take on the merit of "legend". I've no doubt in my mind that Tavernier has been a decent servant over 11 years, but legend - not in a million years. He cannot be mentioned in same sentence as Greig, Baxter, Gough, Cooper, Goram, McCoist and many others. Go on hit me hard Tavernier worshippers.

Just because you say he isn't a club legend doesn't make it so. So there is nothing to argue with you about.

He is in the Hall of Fame. People will be talking about James Tavernier 20-30 years from now. He will always be held up as one of the best RBs to ever play for Rangers.

Someone said there was an interview with some of the players that won 9IAR.

They were asked what player from today they would take back in the 90s. Apparently the only one mentioned was James Tavernier. Someone would need to fact check that. Point being, guys like McCoist might even disagree with you on this.

See if we signed Tav now and he played the next 11 years he'd be one of the highest trophy winning captains in our history.

It really pis**s me off that people blame Tav for our last 10 years misery.

McCoist got it too, booed by so-called fans.

It is astounding that what Tav has done for us, and he gets abused leaving the stadium, almost offered a square go really, by a reasonably big, angry, rough-looking fan.

He gets booed at Ibrox and slaughtered online.

Tell me another Rangers player who's ever made a UEFA team of the season and arguably been player of the tournament.

He has smashed records. That's never going to be equalled or anywhere near it.

People say he's poor defending; he was in a defence that broke the record for least goals scored in a British season, and also the clean sheet record.

I am with the op here. He will never be a Rangers legend in my eyes, but he will be remembered as a good player.

No one is solely blaming him for the last 10 years either.

Put Tav in a Rangers team with superstars of the past, he fits in no problem. Put most other RBs in beside the dross he's played with, they would have drowned! Gave Tav some stick the last couple years as he's been miles off it, but he's a legend for me.

The young supporters that idolised Tav growing up while supporting Rangers during an extremely difficult time in our history will talk fondly of Tav in years to come.
In the same way, my absolute idol growing up played for Rangers in the main while Celtic dominated, winning the League Championship. He won it in 78, but had to wait until the Graeme Souness revaluation, mid to late 80's, at the end of his Rangers career to win his second and 3rd.

I'm sure you all agree it's winning the League title that counts.
3 League titles, 12 seasons, Davie Cooper, my idol and Rangers Legend.
Let's hope it's 2 League titles, 11 seasons, James Tavernier, my kids' idol and Rangers Legend in years to come.

I think it's easier for some to think of legends in terms of trophies won, especially giving our rich heritage which unfortunately counts against him. I also think some of the arguments against him are because he was never thought of as a great captain. As an individual though, for me, I'd still have him as a modern day legend.

Sorry, just to add,
Tav had to play his first season in the Championship, which I haven't included, and we of course won.
Very important League win in our history though, I'm sure everyone will agree. Sorry, Tav, it's not your fault, but I haven't counted that league title.
