I see Gassama is making his debut for Mauritania.
My question is where is Mauritania? as I've not got a Scooby. I've only ever heard of it and never seen it before?

"Mauritania is a country in Northwest Africa, bordered by the Atlantic Ocean to the west, Western Sahara and Algeria to the north, Mali to the east and southeast, and Senegal to the southwest. It functions as a bridge between the Arab Maghreb and West Africa, with roughly 90% of its territory located within the Sahara Desert."

Cheers, Fork, so I take it from that description it's maybe on the coast looking out westward towards the Canaries?
27 Mar 2026 22:10:54
Now I was going to say the last place she was: Rosyth.

Or just above Senegal on west coast if Africa. Former French colony.

Could be bud. ?

Yes he's in the team, Messi starts for Argentina, his old team mate, think it's on Prime.
27 Mar 2026 22:26:40
I was thinking that, Angus, there's an old ship called that, but I'm not sure how it's famous.
27 Mar 2026 22:33:47
Probably Argentina's best team, or not far from it. Good experience for Gassama.
He's 15/1 to score anytime ? why not eh.

Messi never started, had him in the team before the game.

The RMS Mauretania (1906-1935) was a renowned British ocean liner operated by the Cunard Line, celebrated for its Edwardian luxury, advanced technology, and immense speed. As the largest ship in the world upon its launch, it held the prestigious Blue Riband for the fastest transatlantic crossing for over 20 years.
Also used in the war, bud.

Three cheers as Fork has described. But her sister ship the Lusitania more famous as she was sunk in First World with loss of lots of lives.

Africa, worked there before. Was pretty grim

Paul, not been to Mauritania but lots of beautiful parts of Africa - Tanzania, Kenya, Ethiopia and my favourite Namibia. Self-drive holiday for a fortnight and stunning scenery, wildlife and lovely people. Highly recommend, although the roads aren't the best.

My accommodation was shipping containers converted to rooms on back of a vessel with no air con. Wouldn't rush back. ?
28 Mar 2026 11:33:09
Fish heads, chicken feet and rice. Yummy.
28 Mar 2026 11:47:00
Gastronomic delight, Paul. ??

I watched a program about the Lusitania a while ago. She got torpedoed just off the coast of Ireland and was full of passengers at the time.
I've eaten chicken feet before, but I'm not keen on fish so I think I'll give that specific dish a body swerve.
I don't think that I will ever visit Mauritania, but never say never. I had a look, Fork, and it's further south than the Canaries and if you head due west then you will land in Cuba.
28 Mar 2026 14:09:42
So you could be Havana cigar. ??
28 Mar 2026 14:31:08
I'm not a lover of the Cuban cigar, I much prefer the Jamaican type. ?
??? We're jammin, I hope you like jammin too. ?
28 Mar 2026 14:40:21
Three Cheers, I asked a waiter in a restaurant if he had chicken feet but he said his shoes were just a bit tight.
I know. ? Cheerio.
28 Mar 2026 15:37:18
Madhoose. ???
