Ehl, another good article. I don't know if you have seen the Tony Pulis article on the BBC website, which gives his insight on the academy system in England. I was surprised to read that only 9% of players who enter it go on to play professional football.

He has some criticisms of the system, although it seems undoubtedly better than what we have. He advocates improved education outside football as one step to improve the lives of those who don't make it. Enlightening read alongside your thoughts. ?

These articles are excellent, Ehl.

Now do one on why fans appear to have completely different opinions about players on the pitch. A'la Barron. ??

Great read again, my friend, thank you.

Rostosto, that's easy, mate. lol. Personal bias, experience, and perception. We all take a shine to certain players. Once upon a time, when I was a younger lad, I loved Buffel. I would defend his every action and mistake. I would even say things like "aww he's only misplaced that pass cause the player made the wrong run".

Even generational comes into it sometimes. Like, for no reason whatsoever, in the current squad, I have a soft spot for Naderi and Skov Olsen.

I can admit that ASO is underwhelming so far, but I look for reasons why he could be and what he might be. For Naderi, it's just Chermiti's fault, lol, but at the same time Max Aarons and Aasgaard get no defence from me. So it comes down to a lot of stuff.

Also, another excellent article, Ehl.

Ayrshire, I remember that game and the player did make the wrong run. ?

Aye, very true, Ayrshire. I defend Tav to the hilt. He's a wing back who's always had to play in a back 4 and he's never had a right winger ahead of him.

People scream 'he can't defend' and my response to that is usually that Andy Goram could never score. Or that when he does defend well, he never gets the credit.

It's just a shame he's never had a great team consistently around him to bring in the medals.

I've got a soft spot for Naderi. If he keeps working that hard then hopefully he'll get there.

I'm fearing the worst for Olsen. He looks scared to take the game by the scruff of the neck. As for Buffel, I always thought a strong wind would end him mate. ?
