Aph, I'll read this post before I hit the send button ?.

My post wasn't meant to be insulting - you have my word on that.

But the same question - what is it you see in DR that makes you so confident he will be a success? You seem to rave about him - whilst we are playing terrible football having invested massively.

Yet you play down JBA who is playing the best football in the league, who have invested a fraction of what we have.

Are you only looking at results or are you also watching the games? If it's the former then I can understand why you might prefer him to JBA.

But if you're actually watching the same games and thinking this is great then I'm gobsmacked.

If I'm being objective. I would say, out of possession we look a lot more organised than previously (but wouldn't be hard), and playing Moore more centrally is getting more out of him.

But that's it, I can't think of anything else that's really improved.

Our build up play is terrible, we struggle to get into the opposition box and are unable to create space and chances.

Maybe you right and it will click - but I don't see it. And if there wasn't someone better under our noses I might have a different view - but there clearly is.

You mention JBA failures, maybe he needed those to figure things out? Maybe DR needs the same?

Zikos - So should we go for the next "New kid on the block" who is a miracle worker at Motherwell and has hit a purple patch?
Eh, see how they react after the Dundee defeat perhaps? As was the past Aberdeen manager (Thelin) for a period, until his walls came tumbling down at Pittodrie - this club needs Stability and we won't get that jumping from manager to manager on a whim or when some adversity comes our way - imho.

?

If JBA had taken several seasons to accomplish with what he's doing with Motherwell, then I would say no.

But he's done it in 6 months with very limited resources, so I would say yes.

Aph gave us a run down on his career to date, so not necessarily a new kid on the block.

Just one that seems to get the best out of his squad, whilst playing a style of football which most teams struggle to come to terms with, which creates chances whilst keeping the back door closed.

Super post.

Rohl has been knocked out of 2 cups by O'Neill, yesterday particularly "master v apprentice" performance of coaches.

He got into a league winning after Hearts faltered and Nancy's management of Celtic.

Then O'Neill came back got their reserve team playing better than us and Rohl has collapsed over the last month - Livingston bottom club 2-2!

He never learns his lessons and the Americans have simply put us back to "Ground Zero" with a wasted season.

If that American does take advice I want him "hounded out"!

New manager required now to build for next season - then Rohl experiment has failed.

Absolute garbage. ?

The biggest issue is we don't create enough chances for the strikers.

If we only scrape by with narrow wins, then the law of averages is those narrow wins become draws, and draws become defeats.

I don't know how he changes it, because it isn't working. He has the personnel now to play with more intensity, more movement, but I think his Plan B will be to try and do Plan A better.

Youre not wrong zikos but he's only been here a few months and has improved us in that time.

Zikos - Correct. ? We have no creative midfield player who can slot balls into channels for strikers or see a pass over the backline - we have no midfielders who can drive forward and get us regular goals, full stop. Raskin has been off form for weeks, and we get stupid Diomande diving into tackles and then needing subbed at HT (as he has done regularly - liability) - so, all in all, our midfield is full of defensive players, IMHO. Creativity is what we need in there, and also a leader who can galvanise, so I feel it's a bit unfair dropping all the obvious deficiencies at DR's door as if he created this effin mess - years of poor buying and overpaying for average dross and constant manager changes has brought us to where we are, and for some periods in some games we have looked like worldbeaters.

Small margins win and lose games - set plays can cost, so should we be asking Mr Fry were penalties practiced as part of set piece coaching? Or does he only do corners and free kicks? I wonder. IMHO - a quality creative midfielder, a seasoned CH who is a leader and a real winger who can take players on and get behind defences is a must for next season - also, is it just me or does Olsen give the impression he does not want to be here? ?

JBA had all summer to bring in the players he wanted to play the system that he wanted, which Rohl has not had, and, just for clarification, they are 6 points behind us and have failed to beat us in 3 games this season.
You could argue that Rohl's record isn't bad. The semi final defeat was after extra time when we played over 60 minutes with 10 men.

We also have won at Celtic Park and had two draws at Ibrox. Rohl wasn't schooled by Mo'N; in fact, he learned from the second half last week, and this week we dominated the whole game. He is still handicapped by the dearth of talent he has inherited, and deserves at least the summer to sell all those poor Martin signings and replace them with his own players.
