I recently saw an image of the programme for Wolves v Rangers in April 1961. This was a famous result from a great Rangers team (Ritchie, Shearer, Caldow etc.), clinching a place for us in the European Cup Winners Cup final.
The programme gave the teams' strips as follows: Wolves – gold shirts, black knickers; Rangers – blue shirts, white knickers. It seemed like such an odd wording. Thinking ahead to Sunday's game, I hope it's not brown knickers.

I was at the Wolves at Molineaux, and the thing that sticks out in my mind was Ritchie's wonder save.

It really was some team: Ritchie, Shearer, Caldow, Davis, Paterson, Baxter, Wilson, McMillan, Scott, Brand and Hume. The one I couldn't remember was Bobby Hume. I had to Google him. Shame about the final.

Always feel McMillan doesn't get the credit due for how good a player he was. The Wee Prime Minister could take control of a game.

Think it is a throwback to the knee-length shorts, which were called knickerbockers, and were just shortened.
