Have we or are we going to sign Dahl? It's on Ibrox news and transfer feed that we're close to signing him? Anyone know anything? A know window is closed but is it possible?

No we can't sign anyone until the summer window now Char.
We could only sign free agents now and he contacted until 2027.

Not true according to the Daily Record.

It would need to be a signing for the summer now that the Scottish window is closed I would think.

If a club cancels a players contract outside of transfer windows, does that mean player is classed as free agent & can sign & play for any club this season.

I'm only asking because I genuinely don't know, can we have a transfer arranged for the summer if the player still has a contract until Dec 2027. Surely that wouldn't be of interest to a selling club. Hopefully someone can answer.

Jasp only if he was a free agent the last window.

Freed today need to wait until the summer.

JFM, I did a quick search of FIFA rules and, whilst I can't be 100% sure as they are confusing, it would appear it is possible. It needs both clubs (and the player) to agree, a transfer fee to be agreed, and the pre-agreement can be signed. However, the player cannot be registered with us until the next transfer window opens.
I think this is what Liverpool did with Jacquet this window. I thought they had signed and loaned him back, but it appears as if they have signed a pre-agreement with Rennes.
So can't be sure, but yes, looks like it is possible.

Star, like you, I thought those were the rules, but did a check as wondered how that would apply to Matondo. It seems if the contract is terminated by mutual agreement, he would be counted as a free agent and, as long as he hasn't played for 2 clubs, he can sign again. I think it is to do with preventing a player from being unable to earn a living, or similar.
Also, I was aware that leagues have a timeframe, usually end of March, when they can still sign for clubs if they are free agents.
Again, can't be 100% sure as rules are written so laymen can't understand them, otherwise we would all be agent. :)
But let's be certain we haven't signed a free agent in recent times, so it isn't going to happen. And for Dhal, they aren't going to cancel an 8m player contract.

No, Jasp, example we free Matondo today, he can't go anywhere in Europe, could go to us South America though.
Your question, Jfm, we can sign a player anytime, however we would not be able to register him until next window opens, 1/7;
Also, as u say re interest off selling club, imo the biggest risk is the buyer.
We buy example Dhal, leave him playing in Norway until 1/7, what happens if he does his cruciate in June? We still pay for him and his salary from 1/7.
For me, a scenario fraught with danger, imo we get everything lined up for a move when window opens 1/7.

What if some1 comes and gives him double the wages we do, John? Then he goes elsewhere. You just need to tae the chance, and if the boy is worth it, get it done and dusted pronto.

John, I think from reading he may be able to go to a club in a country where the transfer window is still open. Registrations (rather than transfers) are based on the buying club, so I think, for instance, he could sign for a Dutch club until midnight tonight, possibly, as he was freed during the 4 weeks of their winter transfer window.
Also, Saudi may be possible. I can't see why he would want to leave if he can't go anywhere; train and possibly play.
Had a check as your post made me think my initial thoughts were correct. Still not 100% sure as rules are lengthy.
