Heard McCoist saying that Butland only under contract until end of next season. We need him tied up for another 4 seasons to command any decent fee.

Butland was superb last night as he has been all season - However if any club meets buy out clause within contract and the Big Guy wants to leave then we are on a sticky wicket - succession planning needs to be in place for EVERY player in our team so let's not be caught with pants down - I so want him to stay but if bigger brighter lights come calling then we may find ourselves on thin ice- I hope he sees that PC is on a building project and can only hope he wants to be a part of it?.

Being given the no1 jersey, competing for league title, playing in a league cup final, topping group and qualification to knock outs in Europe, playing for the greatest club and fans in the world… Why would he choose to return down south to most probably a mid table fighting for nothing but survival club?

Think the key to keeping Butland will be winning trophies. Obviously if a top team with actual trophy potential comes for him then it will be difficult to keep him. Guys an absolute top class keeper and what a bit of business getting him!

Good to hear that once again McCoist is shown to know nothing, a legend as a player but he`s just the same as the other broadcasters he just talks nonsense and makes it look as if he`s in the know. We should just enjoy Butland while we have him and not worry about it. He probably insisted on the size of the buy out in his contract and if so, we had to agree to it or maybe he wouldn`t have signed . I would rather have him for a season or two and sell him for £4 million as never having had him here at all.

"The Scotsman, however, understands that Rangers are not willing to sell Butland in January unless a over-inflated offer comes in for him, given his is one of the most valued players at the club".


If there was a release clause we wouldn't be able to ask for an over inflated fee.

Would be interesting to see if there is an actual release clause or not.

I thought it was a 5m release but then I've probably only heard that on here. Most importantly, he could have stayed on man utds bench for more money but chose to come and play games. Many players come and then realise the sheer size up the club, I would think the fans idolising him, the euro nights, the old firm games and maybe silverware would convince him he's in the right place, if anything it will be big Phil I'd be more worried about losing.

I grew up with and am friends with a current first team player, Butland has got the Rangers bug and is loving life here. Hopefully this Sunday he will also win the first senior trophy of his career.

Scotty you ask why would Butland want to leave (A) I don't think he will leave for a struggling team but there are clubs nearer top of Prem league with very average keepers - or abroad for that matter (B) - Ask Kent and Alfie the same question and his agent will tell you the reasons - more Benjamins/ folding stuff/ moola - also better supposed leagues with more exposure re future England appearances- surely it is obvious.
Just being a realist although its nice to be a fantasist at times and I do want him to stay with us as long as possible.
As I said earlier hopefully new regime has some succession planning in place and that goes for ALL PLAYERS in our team ?
