Question for EHL, is there any reason why you see so many players pulling up with muscle strains nowadays, can't remember this happening a few years back?

Play more games.

Probably in years gone bye they would just get the magic syringes out and inject your body with the old "no more pains potion" you feel no more pains and soreness until you retire, then before you turn 50 you need a new set of legs.

My own personal opinion is that from youth football onwards, players are increasingly conditioned for the demands of a specific position.

When training becomes too position-specific, we narrow the variety of movements, speeds and physical challenges the body is exposed to.

Then when a player has to sprint further, decelerate differently, cover another position or react to an unpredictable game situation, the body may be less prepared for that demand.

For me we need to condition the footballer first & condition the position second.

Movement variety, strength, speed and exposure to different demands should be developed throughout the pathway, not conditioned out of it.

Probably right Three cheers but that's how it was back then. I recall limping in to training on a Wednesday the week before we play them in the cup final. I wasn't missing that game so only had one option 💉.

You listen to the Strachan interview on open goals, EHL? Similar take to you, I loved the interview really like his take on Scottish football and the reasons it's in the toilet.
