Not bang on Rangers related but the tranfer prices have gone mad in the epl a half decent player costs 20M and a superstar is going on 100m and more and the spl signs players for 12M max we are so far behind no wonder its difficult for both green and blue to compete in Europe it would make you think they don't want spl teams in Europe

England is leaving everyone in Europe behind financially. The top 10 teams for money spent in Europe this summer. Only two are from outside of England. Barca and Real Madrid, according to transfer market, sit 10th and 8th.
All three promoted teams to the Premier League are in the top 20 for most spent: Coventry 18th, Hull 11th and Ipswich 9th.
15 out of the top 20 for money spent are English teams.

Bluebear, it's all to do with money they earn from TV. For getting back to the EPL, Hull is expected to earn 205-215 million. If they survive relegation, that will rise to over 300 million. As long as Scotland is so poor in earnings from Sky etc, we will always struggle.
Considering our meagre earnings in comparison, we greatly overachieved in getting to Europa final. As the earnings gap gets bigger, we have little chance in competing despite fans' expectation levels.
{Ed001's Note - that 200m+ includes the full total of parachute payments if they do get relegated by the way. They always add on those to hype it. So it is 200m over about 4 years, iirc.}

Sorry, hit send before I was finished. SPL champions get 4.5 million, I think. Wolves, as a parachute payment, get 49 million for getting relegated.

It's gone absolutely mental. It's 40-50 million for just your average player there. The one that got me was Chelsea making nearly 20 million profit on Delap after 1 bad year.

Cheers Ed, we would need to win the SPL 10 years in a row to earn what they get for 1 year parachute payment. The gap is huge and just keeps getting bigger.
