Don't know what you think EHL but with DM sitting in the stand could he have a better picture of the game than standing on the touch line, imho I think so as he can see players positioning in and out of possession?

Neil Lennon used to say he got a better perspective from the stand, and he spent a fair bit of time there. 😂

I'm sure Walter used to do that as well.

I'd say a different perspective, however, not a better perspective - otherwise more managers / coaches would opt to sit in the stands.

I think it must be a better way to assess things being in the stand, maybe not in the 1950's, but surely comms now make things fairly easy to get point across when required.

Sir Walter only done it because he had Ian Durant to run up and down to the dugout if he wasn't happy with events on the field.

Walter used to do it a lot and he was as fly as a fox using wee Durranty to run about for him. I think the perspective from the stands is vastly different from the one in the dugout. Didn't do Walter any harm.
