You mentioned in a previous post(which I can't find) that you are happy with the way the squad is shaping up.
I'm curious to know why and what the vision is long term.
Do you think we'll sign anyone else before the window shuts? And if so, how many?

Gazza, I think we have a pretty clear plan and structure that will create the foundations we've been lacking for a long time.
For clarity, that plan is to build a squad where we pair player trading (PT) with seasoned pros (SP) in each position.
Examples being:
Gk. Pandur (PT) & Kelly (SP)
Lb. Rommens (PT) & Penrice (SP)
Rcb. Makhanya (PT) & Godfrey (SP)
I think we'll see this replicated as players move on, for example,
Rb. Skoglund (PT) & McCrorie (SP)
Cdm.
Dragojevic (PT) & Sevelj (SP)
In addition to this, we've been really aggressive in terms of lowering the ages at which we are loaning players out, so we now have a number of 16, 17 and 18 year olds out getting valuable experience.
Compare this to how the squad has been structured previously, for example,
Lb. Yilmaz & Jefte, both untested in the league, both with ambitions to move on, both left and we replaced with Meghoma who wasn't physically ready to play for a full season.

Good insight, EHL, I agree and think the foundations are starting to get there. This is probably the biggest rebuild in a long, long time.
This isn't just a starting 11 we are building, we need a squad. The turn around in players come the end of the window will be vast.
Currently, we have a squad of guys that are new, want to leave or been told they can leave. Once the window shuts, we will see a stronger and more settled squad. A lot of deals to be done over the next couple of weeks, both in and out.

There is a massive "however" here: the player-trading model must run parallel to winning, or at the very least competing, and we simply are not. Therefore, in my opinion, we are failing as a club right now.
I see absolutely no reason for any supporter to have any optimism. The only metric that actually matters is getting three points, which is what drives every other model. If we do not have that, absolutely nothing else works.

TJB, you are bang on. Plan all you want, but 1 point from 6 and out of Europa with a tie you must win to get European football is not the outcome that makes the plan work. Everyone at Ibrox needs to have a clear line of sight on why what they do means we win the SPFL title. It is as simple as that.

Not having a dig at you, Ehl, by any stretch of the imagination, but all well and good having these pairings you talk about. However, if both the Sp and Pt are pish then it's no going to work very well. Couple that with a manager who is clearly out his depth, and voila, you have the very outcome we are now witnessing at present.

I think we'd all be happier with how the squad is shaping up if we named players we haven't actually signed. Don't think anyone would be complaining if we had 2 good players in each position, PT or SP. We're struggling to name 1 of either in half the team. Sounds like a good plan for start of window, but too little, too late, actually doing any of it. What we have at the moment is an unbalanced squad of little quality, if folk are happy how that's shaped up, I don't know.

We should scrap the plan and replace it with sign loads of brilliant players, super quickly and win loads of games.
