For the first time, i went to bed wondering whether McInnes was the right man. After reflecting today, reading the discussions on here and watching his press conference, I've changed my thinking. I don't know why, but I feel the bigger problem lies on the pitch and in the disconnect between the players and the fans.
One thing that did stand out was McInnes himself. He isn't shirking the difficult questions, and after the game last night he said what every one of us could see. He didn't try to dress it up, tell us we were brilliant, or pretend everything was fine. That honesty goes a long way with me because, for once, it feels like the manager is watching the same game as the supporters.
I'm sure McInnes and his staff will have picked up on the positional issues that so many people have highlighted online. Ultimately, though, they can't physically go out there and fix them.
What I do wonder is whether our scouting network is getting it badly wrong.
Surely things like body shape, movement, positional awareness and football intelligence are key parts of assessing a player? Maybe they are, and I simply don't know enough about the process to judge.
I completely understand the signings of Shankland and even Devlin, although the latter is clearly quite limited. But when I look at Naderi, Chermiti, Aasgaard and Gassama, I can't help but wonder who decided these were the players capable of taking us to a title. Or was the brief never really about building a title-winning side, but simply about recruiting players with potential sell-on value?
Maybe that's unfair, and time will tell, but at this moment that's the question I keep coming back to. Because if this squad was genuinely assembled to win the league, then there are some serious questions that need to be asked of the recruitment department, not just the manager.

I'm with McInnes, howwazthat. He's the first manager I'm actually gutted for with the way things are going. I will be backing him and hope he gets the time.

Winning and buying players that can be sold for profit can both be done at the same time. Celtic have been doing it for about 15 years now.

JKing, what if McInnes wanted Chermiti to stay? He said as much?
Why would they accept an offer below what they want for a player?
All very well saying it in hindsight now, but Chermiti was a Rangers player without an offer in for him as it had been rejected. West Ham had bids rejected for Engles, funny enough he's still been playing.

He messed up his decisions last night, but not sure how much blame u can put in him when all he's given is 2CBs and 2 back up RBs for a defence to work with going into vital qualifiers.

Howwazthat, agree with absolutely everything you say there except from Chermiti and potentially Aasgaard.
There's not another striker in the league I'd have over Chermiti, not one. He's still young and has every single attribute required, last season was basically his first full season in first team football.
New club, new league, immense pressure due to the price tag and it only took him 4 months between August and Christmas, a lot of which he spent out of the team btw, to adapt and announce himself as a very good centre forward. And, by Christ, will we miss him this season.

I remember the fans turning on Walter Smith when we lost to AEK Athens, Falkirk in the League Cup, and Celtic.
All the games lost at Ibrox, and everyone was not happy. Crazy thing, we had just lost out on back to back trebles the previous season after losing to Dundee United in the cup final.
Fans can be fickle, and although we are suffering from years of not winning things, we cannot allow the apathy and negativity to increase.
We need to support the team and be positive. This will help players become more confident and believe in winning things.
