Following on from a thread on the discussions page, I wanted to start a thread on this on the banter page, In the hope many contribute.

John, you posted about a perceived "downgrade" of Rangers, which I believe you posted about a couple of months ago. I agree with you, and if you look hard enough, it's actually easy to see.

If you look inside our stadium, the upgrades needed, repairs, general maintenance etc, Ibrox is in a bit of a state. Add that, to the boardroom mess, and what we are witnessing on the pitch, and we have to admit, it's not very good. You could also throw in the downgrades in Strips, and merchandising, too.

Yes, noises have been made about stadium upgrades etc, but talk is cheap until you start putting words into action.

My question is what do you think our new owners endgame is? It would be good to get your input first John. Also posters like Ibrox4me. Guys who are in and around Ibrox, with some inside contacts. Right now, i have no idea what their plans are. And to be honest, I'm frightened to find out.

I've been reading with interest, or maybe dread, posts on other well known Rangers forums, and from some well respected sources, and it's not great.

After a year in charge, the 49ers have not delivered what they told us they planned. They saved the club from administration, we were told on here, and nobody else wanted the club? The Thelwell/Russell Martin debacle was ridiculous and put us back the way, and now we are going further behind!!
Like Sunshine says, what is their end goal?

Can't comment on the whole saving us from administration part, but from the football side of things, they have made a right pig's ear of it.

The Americans are business people first, and can see a perceived growth in the Scottish game.

Being so close to the English Prem and relatively easy access to European football, they plan on getting us back up to a standard where they can sell us for more than they spent.

Can't see them planning anything detrimental to their investment if it means them being out of pocket in the long term. I saw someone mention asset stripping the other day, which would mean there were assets to strip and a wage bill under control for the level of success we're having.

Why would they want to get on us on the right path and sell us? Most businesses want to make companies they buy to succeed so they can get dividends from them.
