I thought World Cup international games were not meant to have any bearing on Ballon d'Or officially. It's an award to recognise the best league player in Europe, so the World Cup should not have any bearing on that award, but people let it bias their opinion.

This is why it was a travesty, in my opinion, that Rodri, for a half season injured, won basically for what Spain did, and Messi winning 2022 when other players should have won.
For me it's no better than Eurovision Song Contest.
