Sky Sports:

Rangers remain in talks for Dahl and Dragojevic but fees haven't been agreed for either. The Ibrox side also held initial talks with Bologna over Lewis Ferguson.

Just buy aw 3 of them because we're minted

I maybe wrong, but imo we won't sign Cammy Devlin, Dragojevic, Dahl and Ferguson. ? I think we'll sign 2 of the 4, and 3 at a push. ? I honestly, unfortunately, now think we won't get Lewis Ferguson. ☹️

Barron, Dio, Raskin, Bajrami - OUT

Devlin, Dragojevic, Dahl, Fergie - IN

Seems plausible & hope it comes to pass.

Let's hope we don't sign Ferguson, because of price tag, all the hype, plus the fact the pressure on the boy, it has disaster written all over it.
Money better spent on providing some width to the team, because if we are going with Gassama, Curtis, Antman even McCauslian, we are in trouble, just not good enough. Curtis has the potential, but needs time to develop.

It's not plausible, True Blue, you could spend north of £30 million quid on Ferguson, Dahl and the young Serbian before wages. We've got other areas of the pitch that need strengthening.

11 Jul 2026 07:34:45
I, hand on heart, don't think we'll get Lewis Ferguson, but for me I absolutely hope we do because he's exactly what we need in our midfield and ticks every box for me. ? He'd be a superb signing and one we can build our team around, absolutely no doubt about it for me. ???

11 Jul 2026 08:22:36
I get what you're saying, Iron, it's more hopeful on my part. Think we'd get 30m+ for those outgoings, imo. Also think, with the big wages off the bill now, there'll be room for manoeuvring on that side.

Our Club has been posting losses for years. We've got to get back to being sustainable where we don't need share issues every season. Sensible recruitment over the next few years under McInnes is my preferred option.

That would rule out 17 million, which is probably the minimum for Ferguson on a single central midfielder. You can 2 for that and have money left over for a 3rd.

11 Jul 2026 09:25:04
First and foremost for me, Iron, we need to start winning trophies, my friend, and that will absolutely bring its own revenue. ? We have to start being successful and build a winning, dominant team. ? We must push the boat out at times for the correct players to take us there without going over the score, but we definitely need to speculate to accumulate, mate, simple as.

? We're all sick of that other lot hoovering up all the domestic trophies and it's time to stop it now. ? ??

Blue 89, we are not minted. This transfer window will see us taking in more than we will spend. We've spent peanuts to date, and all future signings are dependent in moving Raskin and a few others out for decent money.

The 49ers have made it clear they're businessmen first and foremost. I think 17m on Ferguson would not look like good business to them; in comparison getting Neil, Dahl and the Serb for a total of 12-14m, all of them 4-8 years younger with potential impressive resale value, is much better business.
If it wasn't for the family connection, I don't think anyone would be nearly so keen on spending 17m on a 28yo. I don't know enough about Dahl or the Serbian guy to have an informed opinion from watching them play, so defer to others who watch more foreign football; fellow members on here are talking about Dahl as potentially world class - well, even if he ends up only European-class or best player in the SPL class, he's still a much sounder investment at 20yo and half the price of Ferguson.

We appear to be on the brink of making a 20m profit on Raskin - that is exactly the model the owners will likely want to emulate and if we do it regularly enough will self-servingly demonstrate to ambitious quality young players that we can put them in the Top 5 shop window, and we end up with a higher standard of player.
As others have said, long term success comes through stability and that means going back to being profitable and planning 3-5 years ahead, not just trying to one-up the others with headline purchases. Murray did exactly that with Flo, which now sadly looks like pride before the fall. There's a reason his transfer fee record has stood this long, despite inflation - it was an unwise financial commitment which should serve as a warning against similar bravado now.

Couple of years added to Ferguson again.

Wallace, a very good post.

Walter winning things isn't easy though & winning things in Scotland doesn't generate much revenue: winning the league is about £4 million, our cups are worth next to nothing (400-700k). Only way to make money is buying young with potential at a low price & sell after developing them or doing well in the Champions League, which we don't; our Europa League final run got us £8 million.

Tell me, what boxes does Ferguson tick for you as a midfielder? He's not a goal scorer, not got a prolific assist record & he plays the simplest, safest passes & does the basics.

That isn't worth £17 million to us, as if we spend that players will get more expensive, as clubs will want way more money for them, wages will go up to match their fees, then players already here will want more too & we aren't in a position to do that as a team.

£17 million is better spent on 2 or 3 players & if for some reason Cavanagh really wants to spend that money on one player then it'd be better spent on a real difference maker who'll get double figures in goals & assists. £20 million could get you Moore on a permanent & even then I wouldn't do it.

Thanks, John.
Nervous posting properly for the first time, having only declared my preference for chocolate hob nobs prior to this!
Gutted, I accidentally added 1 year and 44 days to LF's age, mind you.
