One other thing.
I have been clear that it was my understanding that Danny Röhl was Andrew Cavanagh primary target in both the summer and after Martin.
Everyone knows the obscene but out clause the then Sheffield Wednesday chairman had out on Danny and it was deemed more than the club were willing to pay.
Andrew was not a hands on Chairman at that point and allowed his team to select a manager.
It failed, Andrew not only got rid of the manager but also the team that selected the manager.
He became hands on and selected his choice backed by his advisors who are linked to another organization.
Believe what you will, I will continue to believe the information I was given and not the Media circus that two managers were able to work so well.
One thing is for sure, you cannot see ay the Media talk nonsense on one hand and believe the Media driven nonsense on the other when it fits your narrative.

Aph
You're entitled to stick with the information you've been given, but a lot of what you're saying leans heavily on assumption rather than anything verifiable.
Yes, Danny Rohl was clearly admired, and it's not unrealistic that he was considered at some point, but primary target is a big claim, and there's no solid evidence publicly that the club ever considered him first choice in summer, especially given the financial reality around his situation at Sheffield Wednesday.
The part that doesn't really add up is the idea that everything failed purely because the chairman wasn't hands-on. Clubs delegate managerial appointments all the time, that's standard practice.
When it didn't work, changes were made. That's not proof of some hidden original plan, it's just how football operates.
Also, saying you don't trust the media but then relying on unnamed inside information isn't necessarily a stronger position, it's just a different source with the same lack of transparency.
At the end of the day, both views are based on partial information. But you can't dismiss one side as nonsense while treating the other as fact without holding them to the same standard, surely.
Nobody on here can verify if what you're saying is true or not!

Stig, I will dismiss media driven claims as nonsense.
I did then and I do now.
Of course nothing is verifiable as that is the nature of an anonymous rumours site.

Also I am seriously fed up seeing posts about Danny's family and children.
In 3 years of Gerrard, did Alex and the kids live in Glasgow?
No, they did not, and he moved at first opportunity.
No surprises that his family followed him to the Gulf.
05 May 2026 08:58:41
Aph, do you still think he is an 'elite' manager?
05 May 2026 09:06:21
I do, Cuillen, and I don't change my opinion based on not winning the league with Russell Martin's team and the same leadership group that let the club down time and time again.
05 May 2026 09:09:36
I've not seen anything like that, Aph, and I wouldn't get involved in it if I did. Personal stuff, especially family, should always be off limits.
I'm only talking about what's happening on the pitch and at club level. It's a football debate, nothing more than that.
If we're discussing it, it should stay around performances, results, recruitment and direction, not anything personal.

Absolutely Brilliant post, Stig. ✌️???
05 May 2026 09:11:10
I hope Danny gets a positive summer to work with the players and see out his vision, but with the money we are spending, he won't have any excuses if we are still struggling next season.
05 May 2026 09:19:04
I agree Stig and i have always kept it within football parameters but since losing to Motherwell there have been countless posts and comments relating to Danny's family.
I am merely pointing out that I am fed up seeing the personal things now.
And now after yesterday we have statements such as.
" You're part of the problem"
" Your not real Rangers supporters"
"No more foreigners".
Can you please tell me at what point is this football debate.
It is the complete opposite, it is shutting down debate and discussion.
And as one of if not the only foreigner on the forum seeing this same rhetoric return is clearly going to have an effect.

"It failed. Andrew not only got rid of the manager, but also the team that selected the manager.
He became hands on, and selected his choice, backed by his advisors who are linked to another organization."
Thelwell and Stewart were still at Rangers when Rohl got the job.

Sausage, investigations take time. They were omitted from the hiring process.
Which was agreed and spoken about by many with access to the club.
05 May 2026 10:28:21
I've not seen any posts about his family on here. I must've missed them.
05 May 2026 12:27:50
Don't think there's been anything negative about his family either, Laudrup. Just mentioned as a reason he might want to leave, and nothing wrong with that. Some managers want to leave for family reasons, others don't. And nothing wrong with asking the question either.
