I was surprised at Danny Rohl's comment when he was asked about the team news ahead of the weekend.

He said "Yeah, what I learned the last time was to speak not too early about who is available. Still 48 hours. I can't give you an another update today."

Now I know he's a young manager still making his way in his career, and credit where it's due, he's basically admitting he made a mistake - he's very honest man.

My point is, why are some of more experienced backroom staff not guiding him prior to these pressers. I just feel it did help Motherwell, giving them a good insight into which players they would be facing.

Why wouldn't he know this, Jim? It's a no brainer. Duh, I didn't know team news would assist my opponents. Love you, Rohl, but some Rangers fans will turn very quickly if we lose against Hearts. I, for one, am happy we are actually still in the fight after a horrendous start to the season. If we don't win the league, we lost it under Martin.

I'd love us to offer Martindale a place in the back room team.

I think he's a very good manager and would be a good balance for Rohl's team, with a Scottish identity and plenty of experience to help Rohl.

Did he name players who were injured and doubtful before the Motherwell game? If he did, I didn't hear it, and that's why I was surprised at the team. The only hint he gave was that Sterling wouldn't play two games in a week, but that's no big giveaway.

I'm more surprised when he plays one game a week nowadays. That didn't really affect the result, granted, Tav was poor, but we still had a clean sheet and were winning while he was on the field.

I thought it was more of a dig at the media than a tactical point. I don't think anyone really knew anything at all about what formation or line up would be used on Wednesday.

It was a small point, but I think he would be better off not doing that.

There is no gain to be had in it for me. Overall, he has been excellent with the media and has probably done about 50 hours of media work in his short time here. It definitely isn't easy, and he has even managed not to mention sports science once.
