Rangers will finish 12-20 points clear of the team in 3rd. I really don't get why some people write such drivel on here. Yes the team is underperformed, yes the standards aren't of the expected levels of our club but everyone to a man on here realised that this was a transitional season. We slashed the wage bill, let go of experienced players no matter how we rated them and replaced them with young players with potential. That is never going to be an overnight success. I have seen progression and performances in Nice, against Spurs and the League Cup Final must surely convince some that there will be better times ahead when this squad is settled and added to in next few windows.
28 Dec 2024 09:13:47
Del, good post mate, a blind man could see progress.
28 Dec 2024 09:22:43
You've both and the blind man had seen progress in those 3 games what about the other 20 odd games. You both are happy with the results and performances then the standards aren't that high really. We aren't the only 1s in the league doing rebuilds but yet they other teams do well and beyond their means while our ignorant and useless manager doesn't. It's OK to because those 3 games is good enough for some fans.
28 Dec 2024 09:25:46
Progress? We are 12 points behind. Its our worst away form since god knows when. We have not beat Celtic since god knows when. Finishing 2nd is not a measurement of progress or success. How is this progress?
28 Dec 2024 09:42:41
Needs to be sustained progress not stuttering.
28 Dec 2024 09:48:12
Agree Del, too many want us to sack and repeat rather than give someone time, the amount of times I hear just buy great players, if it was that easy with all the varying factors, Newcastle would be winning the Premier league every year.
28 Dec 2024 09:48:27
Very sensible post. Unfortunately seeing the bigger picture implies happy clapping and accepting mediocrity. Sack clement 1 week keep him the next. I’ve watched fantastic Rangers teams drop points they shouldn’t have and it didn’t feel any better back then. There will be a lot more bumps in the road.
28 Dec 2024 10:11:53
exactly ??.
28 Dec 2024 10:24:16
You two and the blind man, otherwise known as the 3 wise men??.
28 Dec 2024 11:01:49
Progress. Only ross county have scored less than us away from home.
28 Dec 2024 11:12:19
King progress in the last 3 games? think it was more than 3 games.
Coldo (weegreentam) just an obsessed tim and an embarrassing fool.
28 Dec 2024 11:15:00
How has there been progress? This time last year we were only 5 points behind the tims with 2 games in hand, and we had also won the LC. Fast forward 12 months, and we are already a massive 12 points behind the tims having played the same amount of games, having already lost the LC to them. How is that progress?
Beating kilmarnock, or drawing with a very poor Spurs team means absolutely nothing when we are losing cup finals, failing to beat them, or getting beat off of ST Mirren.
This time last year we had lost 3 games, whereas, we have lost 4 already this season. Is this progress? We were on 40 points after 17 games last season, whereas, we're only on 35! Is that progress?
A true benchmark is measuring where we are now, from where we were last season. However, there's many on here happy to measure where we are now to where we were at the start of the season, which is ok, but even then, it still doesn't show real progress. We've lost a cup final! We're still getting beat off the smaller teams! The points gap between us and the tims has got worse! And so on! Is that really progress?
Progress must be sustained, and continued over a period of time, not over the odd game here and there. How can that be progress?
28 Dec 2024 11:22:26
Its Weebluetam and insulting me won't take away from the fact that you are sugar coating it and talking bs.
Are you going to insult everyone else who can't see the progress you claim we are making?
Exactly Paul.
28 Dec 2024 11:28:29
Coldo you're just a wreck of a human, we see it regularly.
Sunshine, obviously progress lately with a different team from last season.
28 Dec 2024 11:32:22
Well said Sunshine, excellent post. Really does put it in perspective.
28 Dec 2024 11:44:06
But even then, my star, it's still not progress! We've just been beat off of ST Mirren, lost a cup final, and lost more ground in the league to the tims, and all within the last 2 weeks. How is that progress?
28 Dec 2024 11:55:10
Morning lads .I agree with everything sunshine is saying as us as a support have now just excepted the claptrap of mediocrity of where we now are . Over the last few seasons we've looked as if we're turning a corner then it's back to square one. We all accept changing managers isn't always the answer but how far do we need to fall before we accept its just not working.
28 Dec 2024 12:01:17
Ssfc just a week ago you said you could see the progression. Two individual errors cost us against stmirren. What manager can be responsible for individual errors.
Butland had a brain fart and Sterling who many wanted into the team stumbled slipped or whatever happened with his footing. That's not down to the manager.
28 Dec 2024 12:02:24
What progress are you talking about? ?.
28 Dec 2024 12:05:55
Sunshine so you've not seen any progress in our new team? I've seen progress since the game against Hearts mate, yes poor against St Mirren (both goals players silly mistakes) but new teams do take time and again all I'm seen is progression for many weeks now, will still be many bumps but this sacking a manager after a year will bring nada success, actually getting very bored of the discussion about our manager because things would have to go very badly wrong for him losing his job, think we beat the tims on the 2nd.
28 Dec 2024 12:12:12
In order to make 'progress' then progress has to be measureable. What are you measuring our progress against in order for you to say we have progressed?
28 Dec 2024 12:14:36
Paul our away form is the problem and if the table was based on that we would be 6th with Ross County (a game less played than celtic) However on home form we are top with 1 more win than Celtic (Celtic have played a home game less) and we have scored 4 goals less than Celtic. if we can sort our away form out then we would be close to challenging. so despite it being said this is a dreadful Rangers team that seems to be results-wise only true away from home. Only stats I know but they are used by the pros so must have some meaning or bearing. Answers on a postcard: how do we improve our away form?
28 Dec 2024 12:41:54
Sunshine ; you can’t compare the team from last year to now PC had to get rid of the big earners and replace them with young inexperienced played on lower wages, yes the away form is poor but also the fact we are playing three games every seven days our squad is not good enough for that we can’t replace like for like when we get injuries or rotating the squad, we lack leadership on the park I’ve had a season ticket for over forty years and I’ve never seen a team just accept it if things are not going their way in days gone by we had four or five captains on the park Butchers, Goughs, Ferguson ETC going round in players faces telling them to get the finger out I remember getting beat by Aberdeen away Billy McNeil was their manager he was giving an interview to TV when Butcher burst through the door heading to our dressing room I can imagine what was said when he got there but I don’t see that character in our team right now, we need to improve our squad with two or three leaders men who will run through a brick wall for three points.
28 Dec 2024 12:45:56
How can we have progressed if our away form is as poor as its ever been? We have actually regressed under PC. Play two strikers Angus instead of a 10. Its quite simple. I don't know why we never went with two strikers the other night.
28 Dec 2024 12:48:05
Folk eating no progress, you seriously don’t think the displays in the 5 or 6 games prior to at mirren aren’t better than what we’ve seen in the first part of the season? And do you seriously think we’re going to progress and not have any slip ups along the way? That’s not progress, that’s overnight success you’re hoping for! Progress for me was playing at a faster pace, creating more chances and having an exciting, hard working style. First half against st mirren aside I’d have to say that’s what I’ve seen the last 6 games.
28 Dec 2024 12:54:59
Yes, after a couple of games, Jfm, but it's not sustained progress, and that's what's needed!
What's the point of progression in the odd game here and there? Is that real "progress"? Remember, although we played better, we still lost the cup final.
We have a tough game tomorrow, and with our away form being so awful, thos had got danger written all over it.
Not showing consistency, still getting beat off the smaller teams, still unable to beat the tims, and losing more ground in the league, are not the true signs of progress! It's right there in black and white!
28 Dec 2024 13:05:04
We find it hard to do something against teams who sit in deep, you need some flair and speed to get behind the defences which we are lacking. We can't score from corners either, there is no ariel presence which can get you a goal in games like the St mirren one.
28 Dec 2024 13:05:17
Sunshine : you won’t see progress till we strengthen the squad they are miles ahead of us in terms of Squad look at our bench at games.
28 Dec 2024 13:14:01
"Overnight success"?! What?! He's been here for over 12 months and we're in a worse position today than anytime he's been here. ????
Good God, if that's "Overnight success", them what timeframe do you consider waiting for success? ?.
28 Dec 2024 13:20:59
Sunshine is it not a different team from last season like?
28 Dec 2024 13:21:49
I absolutely agree with you, twacoos, and we do not have one real leader out there. Or more to the fact, we don't have one player of real character or stature to pull this mob together. However, although we lack a leader on the park, we still have one off it (allegedly), and right now, he is failing miserably.
28 Dec 2024 13:24:39
Sunshine, No wonder you laugh mate???, you clearly can't tell players in our new team have only just arrived a few months ago.
28 Dec 2024 13:27:41
"Strengthen the squad"! Hmmmmm?! So, you're saying our starting 11, which cost millions to put together, just won't cut it against the likes of ST Mirren? We spent more on Diomonde than the whole of the St Mirren team put together, so i don't get your point?!
28 Dec 2024 13:38:17
We have seen the odd glimpse of progress.
Reeling in Aberdeen to consolidate 2nd after many thought we would be in a fight for 3rd is progress.
The issue is that it isn’t sustained by the players or manager on a consistent basis.
Sustained progress would have been retaining the LC by taking the opportunity at 1-0.
Sustained progress would be beating teams like St Mirren to put further daylight between us and Aberdeen etc.
Sustained progress would have been keeping the gap at 9 points to give us a chance to reduce it to 6 points on the 2nd.
Sustained progress is the players finding a consistency in performances.
Sustained progress is the manager sticking by a formation that coincided with our recent up turn instead of reverting back to the norm.
1 step forward, 2 steps backs is not progress.
28 Dec 2024 13:42:42
Don`t see much progress but to be honest after what has been done to the playing staff in the summer I don`t think we have the right to expect progress.
We have downgraded in every area of the team and weakened the squad. We left gaping holes in certain areas, centre back and holding midfield to name but two and seemed to think we could still compete.
The manager and Koppen will take most of the blame but the people who let our finances get into such a state after some good years are even more culpable.
However I will say there is something rotten on the playing side of our club at every level . Even the Womans team fold when they are put under pressure.
28 Dec 2024 14:06:08
Sunshine progression works like that for young players in fact all teams; they have bursts of good wins and then a loss can throw that to the side. this will continue to happen until the team/ squad which is being built is completed and even then we will lose to teams we should be beating. It happens to every team Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and look at Man City at the moment. their support will feel just as entitled as ours.
think of the ups and downs of players a bit like you are, last week you could see progress, this week you cant. surely it can't be both. You live up once again 100% to your name.
It is also funny how we only manage to beat poor teams; poor teams like Spurs, Nice, FCSB and Malmo; is that the poor teams you mean.
28 Dec 2024 14:06:09
Of course being instructed to reduce the wage bill must have an effect on the squad strength. There are further reductions still to come so I think we are in for a tough couple of seasons. Not sure many managers would bring success straight off under those circumstances. Problem is our best 11 cannot start every single game especially during such a busy spell.
28 Dec 2024 14:09:55
Rangers Board has a major problem and they have created it since our last SPL win. Since then the Board has spent money on players who haven’t improved us enough and also held on to players far too long until their transfer value was all but wiped out .
It’s crazy that we are talking of downsizing since last summer and that we have to continue down the same road . Rangers should be team and squad building if they are ever going to catch them . Downsizing only give the likes of Aberdeen hope of overtaking us . No team fears us anymore and any SPL team can beat us. Despite having very little money, we can’t afford to sell any player of merit, as that is only going to waken us further . We need to be careful how we spend the little money available, I suggest just one / two carefully selected players who will improve a position or two.
28 Dec 2024 14:11:07
All this progress chat. Some are seeing it others are not for me personally I'm not see bugger all.
Odd result here and there but overall we have been a shambles most the season.
Excuse after Excuse of why we are piss poor right now be it injuries or anything else it's just that an excuse.
I'm sure most in here are old enough to remember the good days under sir Walter and winning trebles under advocate.
These days are gone and if all we have is now is trying to buy some young players in hope they might come good and make a profit then we truly are in trouble.
We're running at a loss them lot are taking in mega money season on season with Europe and annoyingly good scouting.
Last few years they have picked up gems and made great money but any player trading is only successful if the team is winning on the park and winning trophies.
I want nothing more than clement to work out and be a success but for me it's not going to happen.
It's like le guen to an extent great in Europe but just doesn't understand the spl league.
Lose on the 2nd and he's done we all know it.
28 Dec 2024 14:33:30
Did we beat Spurs? ?
Also, where did I post that we only manage to beat "poor teams"? You really need to stop making things up! ?.
28 Dec 2024 14:34:52
JFM; exactly he had to cut the wage bill considerably and with that went the experience we then replaced them with young players and young players have ups and downs yesterday first half was a down then if you throw in two huge blunders by our experience players that is what you get.
28 Dec 2024 14:42:48
When you engage with bombastic balloons you spend your whole day reading repetitive posts while repeating yourself ?.
28 Dec 2024 14:44:01
You make no sense, again, My star (nothing new there)!
There were 13 players in the squad for the St Mirren game who were with us last season, and out of those 13, 10 actually got game time. Explain that?!
28 Dec 2024 15:26:30
Twacoos wrong team mate ?Billy mcneill was the celtic manager in a Scottish cup game against us at celtic park and they beat us 2-0 and while McNeil was doing his post match interview, big butcher burst through the door nearly taking the door off its hinges and billy mcneill got the fright of his life ?.
28 Dec 2024 15:33:56
Don’t recall the manager saying second was more than acceptable rather than challenging for the league.
It’s fans accepting that we are in a ooor position for Rangers.
What’s the progress? Very few young players being integrated as promised, other young players that have been brought in some of which have cost a few bob and so far it’s debatable that they will be long term success’s with us or we are able to sell on for a profit.
A significantly bigger budget from all the other teams yet most games we are struggling to beat them and have suffered some damaging defeats.
What if we give the manager two more windows and it’s much the same?
At what point do a lot of fans say actually it’s not working being that far behind them, to wait another year will bring more hurt and damage to finances.
28 Dec 2024 15:38:32
Still going with the old need time to settle gimmick. Yawn!
Nailed it again Sunshine, most players were here last year.
28 Dec 2024 18:52:23
11.15 a very poor spurs team. so not made up and not all directed at you as the world doesn't just revolve around you as I've said in the past. continue your cherry picking of stats though.
28 Dec 2024 20:05:08
??? Aye, good try! How disappointing that you can't even admit your error!
I'm going to leave it there as I no longer get any pleasure from having you on toast! ???.
28 Dec 2024 20:18:12
Here here! Rangers on and off the park need a season to gel, stabilise, and build a team!
