I read some posts on here this morning comparing some players that we've now sold to beale's new signings ? Everyone has an opinion i get that but for me although not playing to his best form atm, raskin is a better midfielder than kamara for me and will go on to get better and better and play at a much higher level in a top league, with a big club ?
I get some posters saying raskin not playing to his best at the moment but just can't/ won't accept the poster who said raskin wasn't a good midfielder ? Raskin ain't a good midfielder, he's a terrific midfielder imo ?.

Personally I think he has a lot of potential. But he IS NOT a terrific mf yet mate. He’s done nothing.

Raskin is a very talented player, I’d like him to put his shooting boots on a bit more he’s got a terrific shot on him . My guess he’ll be in the EPL or top euro side within 2 years .

I still strongly believe the new signings are good players. i think its all on beale for not sticking to a first 11 and consistently rotating while having no real plan and playing players out of position. I think the new players look comfused which is effecting there confidence. people may disagree with me but i don't think as individuals there bad players they all have decent pedigree and in spells have all shown they have qualities For me its all on beale and his terrible tactics which has started to effect Raskin and cantwells game now as well.

In your opinion. it's all about opinions he has done well against the rest but needs to play more positive against bigger teams.
Think he still shows a little fear and goes sidewards and backwards v bigger teams scared to make an error but he's young and hopefully will come good.

He has been bang average this season thus far let’s be honest . He needs to prove he’s a terrific midfielder and quick . I like him, however like most of our squad he needs to improve big time for upcoming games .
I wouldn’t be bumming up any of our players after that last old firm game . That was the worst I’ve felt after an old firm game in a long time .

Deanobear - couldn’t agree more, I don’t think it’s fair to blame any of the players at this stage. If Beale isn’t having a long hard look in the mirror and planning serious changes to his approach he’ll be gone within a few games.

The issue with the midfield is two of your three cover the full backs which leaves us empty in middle of the park when countered.

He’s not done much since he’s came in and goes missing slot in the big games and he’s not been able to change a game like ones could do on my list or even dictate the play

We’re totally lacking a player in our midfield like the ones from the list in my opinion?

That’s some list Stig when u see it written down like that mate, really is. We’ve been blessed with some great payers down the years, but especially mf’s.
I’d throw tugay into that list off the top of my head aswell mate. Great list.

A lot of people must not actually watch the games.

Our midfield is forced to cover for the 2 full-backs jogging up the pitch and giving terrible crosses. into a no9 that couldn't hit a barn door.

The tactics need changed so that the players can thrive. Simple.

Kamara had a couple of good moments but most of the time he slowed the play down and passed the ball backwards. Very annoying when you are trying to attack, especially in a league where most teams park the bus.

we definitely need one or two players at that level although possibly impossible to find for the right budget lol

Totally agree AllyMc. Our midfield seem to be lacking confidence due to Mr Beales tactics, the defence are compounding the problem, I think Raskin is trying too hard at times, but at least he’s trying, as for Kamara, decent player on his day, but downed tools when he did’nt get his move, unforgivable. I would like Rangers to try 3-5-2 formation, try Ben Davies on the left of 3. Probably get pelters but my only my opinion ???.

That will be our scouts that are being made redundant Stig.
I read we have 7 full time scouts who are going to be replaced by 3 full time, although the 7 have been asked to apply for the 3 positions it will take to run the new analytic based system.
Really think that takes away the chance of finding gems. I’ve always had a good eye for a player, can watch players once or twice and that technique or simple wee things that stick out u can’t see on a computer statistic.
Nothing wrong with using the system but not to replace the good old human eye.

Done the wee dream team that someone posted last night and forgot about Michael mail a for example, I went with wee Rodney Wallace.
Some fantastic players do a the years mate.

I agree and have said this about Raskin for a while. Has loads of potential, but lots still to do. For example, he drops runners far too often, particularly against better teams and his use of the ball at times is poor.

Let me put it this way, he doesn't get a game for Celtic ahead of McGregor, Hatate or O'Riley. And that's the yardstick for our players.

We were blest with great midfielders in the 90s when we were spending big and prior to Sky Sports changing in the game.

If you’re going to judge the players we have now against that lot then not many will make the cut. Numan was asked which player from the current Rangers side would play for these classic teams and he was quite certain Tavernier would have made the team. Numan said he’s the only one, and to have both them attacking up the wings would’ve been great, in his opinion.

McGregor was developed by Celtic, O'Riley cost the same as Raskin and Hatate cost £400k more. On current evidence all 3 are better players and none of them required spending big like we did in the 90's.

I agree with you that we shouldn't compare to our historic players, the yardstick is the players across the city. We need to be better than them to win the title back.

In that regard at the moment, we're falling behind with all of our new signings with the exception of Cantwell and Butland IMO. Those are the only two in our squad at the moment who would play for Celtic, but even then Cantwell is a close call (more to do with Celtic being really strong in MF than Cantwell himself) .

I think, to be fair to verdant, he’s talking about the big spending of the wages in the 90s and the transfer fees under dick advaocaat and even Saint Martin over the road.
Tav would 100% got into advocaats team, his numbers are astounding.
I’ll put this into the mix, imagine how better his numbers would get with Craig Moore and big Ano at the back, claudio tryna covering his runs, tugay or Barry tucking in to protect him, and players like gabby amato, Michael mols or Ronald de Boer to link up with, throw in Wallace or Billy doods in the middle and the numbers would’ve been even better and he wouldn’t have been as exposed defensively. He definitely gets in dicks team.

Beale has been using both Raskin and Cifuentes as the wider midfielders in a three in Europe and asking them to cover the full backs which is so obviously roles they are not suited to. Raskins best games have been as part of the two deeper midfielders. If Beale wanted two guys to cover full backs he should have signed those types not tried to convert people to those roles . Raskin has struggled this season but he has lots of potential and while he is nowhere near being a great midfielder he has talent . They need to sort out his fitness though because he does seem to struggle badly after an hour or so.

McGregor at Celtic would’n’t get near those teams from the 90s either, mate.

Back in the 90s we could outspend Celtic. Now we can’t even do that.
