Here's a question guys regarding tom lawrence. Clement stated that there won't be a repeat of any of our players running down their contracts and becoming out of contract again, under his management, thus they'll either be given the chance to sign a new deal or sold long before they get near their contract running down ?So it brings me to tom lawrence, who has only 1 year left on his current deal when the summer arrives. what's our thoughts guys, do we think clement will offer him a contract extension in the summer or choose to sell him in the summer ? Even though he's 30 years old, i think clement rates lawrence highly enough to give him a new 2 year deal and i personally would be happy with that, as for me lawrence is a talented/ quality footballer ? He's very direct and attack minded who playing almost every week would score the in the double figures for me ? He's also a very good mover on and off the ball, who always seems to find pockets of space, he's a class act for me ???.

I would definitely keep him, Clements dealt with the fitness issues of a few players, including Lawrence, so we won't see the long injury lay offs of the past.
Jack and Roofe will be allowed to leave imo. Hopefully Lundstram signs a new deal soon too.

I agree SWS keep Lawrence and look at new deal. I doubt at his age he would have a high value sell on anyway and he should playing a full season be able to get 10 or more goals.

I think Lawrence is coming on to a game and has been an asset the last couple of games he's played.
But I think it will all depend on how his recuperation from injury goes between now and the end of the season.
Clement seems to be managing his game time perfectly.
And as much as we don't want to be losing players for nothing, we can't be extending injured players contracts either.

When clement sits down and looks at Lawrence’s injury record with us he’s got a decision to make as yes he’s a talented footballer and if fit plays week in week out but that’s if we keep him fit I would say if he gets to end of season un injured there will be a chance he gets a extension if he gets another injury or two then no way we can keep paying another high wager with noting productive on the park, I love Ryan Jack but I can’t see him making it due to his injury record and we all know roofes position, if Lawrence gets deal it’s footballing terms not much re sale on him with his age I would say - follow follow.

Lawrence is a class player imo.

at the end of the day PC can say all he wants, if a player doesn't want to sign a new contract nothing Rangers can do about it. if they player doesn't want to leave before his contract runs out again nothing rangers can do about it. its happened many times before and no doubt will happen again, not ideal but as i said if a player doesn't want to leave or doesn't want to sign a new contract then the contract winds down and he leaves for free at the end of it.

Clement can't stop any player running down their contract.

True but temptation may entice them to stay, grass is not always greener elsewhere as a few now know, as most have seen too.

Mark, if a player has a year left on deal and doesn't sign extention then i think from now on the club will look to sell on then.

Has to be. Kent and Morelos took us to the cleaners running down their contracts and walking away.

The chat was Lawrence wanted back down the road, interested to know if that’s still the case or is he one who now wants to stay since the gaffer has come in and reinvigorated the whole place. A few wanted out of the club when Beale was in charge.

Macdoj, how did Kent and Morelos take us to the cleaners? They fulfilled their contracts which is what they are obligated to do . A couple of seasons ago we allegedly had an offer of £16million from Lille for Morelos which we deemed not enough and decided not to sell. He probably would have gone there but we kept him to his contract, it works both ways, we could have sold him and decided not to. By the way he cost £1million so I think he paid his way over the years.

wsigers4ever, I would say their attitude stank totally in the final year to 18 months of their contracts, they therefore, in my opinion, did take The Club to the cleaners, they were fraudsters who didn't deserve the money we were paying them under their contracts, I agree with PC, if they don't want to be sold on, they have a choice to make before the final year of their contract.

I think what he meant was that both done the square root of hee haw in their final years of their contracts. This was especially true with Kent who done nothing in his final 2 years. Morelos was a bit better, but his last 18 months were a waste of time.

Let's be honest, in Kent's case he can be considered as a very poor signing. A few good performances during his first 2 years since we signed him for 7.5m does not constitute a success.

We got nil transfer fees for Kent or Morelos.
That cost the club a minimum of £10m, probably more. They refused to sign new contracts and contributed very little in their last season.
PC is taking the right stance on this from now on.

Morelos was injured for first half of the year. but again if a player wants to run down the contract there is nothing we can do. apart from ofcourse not playing him (then its cutting off our nose) . contract is a contract.
