Good post EHL. This all rings true. a close friend of McKenna told me 2 weeks ago that the deal was almost done and dusted and that the player was likely to move. Also that the chat amongst Aberdeen players was that Barron had agreed to move. Since then, both stories seem to have died a death.

allyg72

1.) 14 Jan 2024 14:47:46
Hopefully both still happen allyg72 as I like both players.

2.) 14 Jan 2024 15:29:26
Yesterday's performance was just a reminder if it was needed that unless a goal scorer and a LB are signed in this window Rangers ain't winning the league.

3.) 14 Jan 2024 16:09:16
I wouldn’t say a LB would win us the league tbh. For me, something different on the wing and goalscorer is where we’re short.

4.) 14 Jan 2024 16:16:00
Striker, centre midfeilder (creative/ controller) , barasic can play left back only need new one if ridvan moves on and apparently we’ve knocked back a loan to buy for €4m.

5.) 14 Jan 2024 16:59:05
From galatasaray.

6.) 14 Jan 2024 18:07:32
I’d be more concerned with up top right now although at start season defense was priority Beale flipped it and screwed up forward line don’t think silva going to score much from what I’ve seen so far.

7.) 15 Jan 2024 01:49:20
the 24hrs are up now, apparently Yilmaz was signing for Verona, more paper talk.
If Yilmaz plays in the Copenhagen game tomorrow he is staying, unless we get a silly offer.

Ye raging still TT ;) suck it up lad.

8.) 15 Jan 2024 16:50:13
Creative/ controller is a new one.

9.) 15 Jan 2024 18:28:21
Stevieg2 I agree however we are not adding any midfielders until we cut aquas size down and specially midfield

Cantwell
Raskin
Cifuentes
Wright
Hagi?
Lundstrum
Dowell
Lawrence
Jack
Davis? Has he left yet?
Sterling

I think you’ll agree that’s a bit overkill numbers wise.

10.) 15 Jan 2024 18:31:34
Also could add Lowry and rice to that lot.

12 Jan 2024 19:20:10
A lot of people rightly posting how good Yilmaz is. My information is that he isn't happy in Scotland and has long expressed a determined mind to move. The mood within Rangers is to offload an unhappy player.

The same source tells me that Lowry will not be part of future plans and those posters on this site who allude to concerns over the player's attitude are correct. "concerns" would be the least of it.

allyg72

1.) 12 Jan 2024 20:13:34
Yup mate. What you state has been posted many times.

2.) 12 Jan 2024 21:01:56
None of us seem to be arguing he shouldn’t be sold or how happy player is.

Personally, all I’ve seen ihere is one or two people defending the players ability and potential against people saying he simply isn’t good enough .

That’s quite different from saying he needs to stay.

3.) 12 Jan 2024 21:12:53
Loads Whitehorse, cracking summary though ??.

4.) 12 Jan 2024 21:18:53
Thats a real shame, I wasn't convinced about the rumours however there seems to be evidence something is not quite right with attitude. With the loss of his mother the lad needs a bit of slack and a chance to get on the right track regardless of Rangers and Hearts. A football club may not be the right environment to sort himself out and may need professional help.

5.) 12 Jan 2024 21:21:58
Prepare to be shot down!

6.) 12 Jan 2024 21:40:48
We were told colak n sakala wanted too leave, they didnt.

7.) 12 jan 2024 22:03:06
how good yilmaz is,

a couple of half decent games, an old firm game lost,

and we seem to be talking about “ how good” a guy who is going to verona is!

are we still rangers, or partick thistle.

8.) 12 Jan 2024 22:24:32
Yilmas doesn’t want to leave.

9.) 12 Jan 2024 22:32:38
TT1212. We are a family who's blood runs blue mate. we will bitch and fall out and fall back in cause that is what a family is. We are one and we are the people.

10.) 12 Jan 2024 22:46:59
You can’t put an opinion on what people on here confirm.

11.) 12 Jan 2024 23:06:31
I have many good friends who are Turkish or from Turkish descent and holiday there 2/ 3 times a year. His compatriots rate Yilmaz very highly and expected him to kick on after his move to us with a quick move to the EPL. The lad obviously hasn’t settled as has been stated many times as White Horse has alluded to above and it’s best for all parties if we move on an unhappy player. Wish him nothing but the best going forward.

12.) 12 Jan 2024 23:31:58
The boy is a good player thumb, would rather keep him to build for future seasons but our defence will cope till summer and getting money in for a goal scorer will be the difference in winning the title, hopefully we get a sell on fee as he will end up in either a top team in Italy or a stronger league if he stays clear of injury.

13.) 12 Jan 2024 23:46:20
Tom I’d argue yilmaz was better than tav in last old firm game excluding the free kick tav was poor yet people don’t seem to have the same criticism funny I thought yilmaz was one of our better performers last old firm he has a little wobble at the start yes but went onto a strong game.

14.) 13 Jan 2024 00:00:01
Yilmaz has utterly failed to displace BB who he was brought in to replace. Aside from that wonder goal he's offered next to nothing going forward and is somehow even less capable at tracking back and dealing with crosses than the tired old legs of BB.

He's a decent player but not built for the Scottish game best to sell him while people still remember his potential before he leaves a shell of a player.

15.) 13 Jan 2024 01:25:02
Novo I like Yilmaz and think he is a good player who could potentially become a great player but I can’t argue with your points - it hasn’t really worked out and maybe selling him now is best for him and Rangers - maybe add a sell on fee of 10/ 15% ??????.

16.) 13 Jan 2024 07:08:53
Everybody wants rid of borna, not good enough etc etc yet ridvan is 2nd choice to him and is apparently a baller.

17.) 13 Jan 2024 07:17:55
If the boy was such a great player he would have pushed BB to the side long ago and cemented his palace as our established LB - this has been under several managers so whether its lack of ability homesickness or more like as I feel he is just not good enough to hold down a jersey- let's move on and get a solid defensive LB who wants to and can play for the Gers from day 1.It is sad to say that BB is still the best LB we have at our club who can at moment still deliver quality final balls albeit his defensive aspects of game are weak- as said about a few players who get pelters on here, we will only appreciate BB when he has gone and imo he can still do a job (even through failing legs) as many of the clubs sniffing around him will testify-Time for a big solid more defensive (foremost) full-back PC please?.

18.) 13 jan 2024 10:12:53
guys, these obvious truths are clear and beyond dispute

the boy, like hagi, never was good enough to cement his place in any of his managers teams, some people seem to become obsessed, that's not good when debating quality, yilmaz looked ok when st johnstone never left they're own half, but nothing special, he was never good enough for me, now he's at verona, but apparently on the next flight to barcalona, i know he has some talent, but not my idea of rangers lb, neither clements and the previous managers, that to me says more than anything.

19.) 13 Jan 2024 11:45:13
No one ever said he was going to Barcelona TT you really need to grow up.

20.) 13 Jan 2024 13:44:52
TAmf, from what I have heard, Yilmaz is not a big fan of Scottish Football and won't be too upset to move to a country where football is more of an art. What I did hear was that despite Galatasaray and Fernabahce being keen to bring him home that he did not want to return to Turkish Football.

21.) 13 jan 2024 15:40:39
8aye ok . il take advice from you.

22.) 13 Jan 2024 17:40:13
The only one obsessed on here TT1234 is you, obsessed with disrespecting other posters opinions, especially if they have a positive opinion of a player you dislike, you regularly disrepect
StormTrooper, Gofur, MY star and lately me, no doubt there are others, your about as relevant as a 1920's newspaper.

Ok then Genius who exactly? should we get in as LB seeing you continually keep posting your hatred for Yilmaz, in between parroting other posters opinions.

I bet you don't answer, because you can't handle your opinion being criticized.

23.) 13 jan 2024 18:46:46
the fact you put hatred in your post means i have no interestin telling you my thoughts, ok.

01 Jan 2024 11:53:19
I've heard from a good friend of Scott McKenna that his agent is in advanced discussions with us. The same person tells me that the chat amongst the Aberdeen players is that Miovski and Barron are also leaving Aberdeen this window for us. I can't say I'm excited about any of them although I lack knowledge of their recent form. but my source's contact with McKenna is absolutely 100%. Whether parties reach agreement is another matter.

allyg72

1.) 01 Jan 2024 12:17:53
Connor barrons new agent looking to up his contract as he's holding off on re signing for them. Possibly a pre contract then sell early not sure he's better than what we have when everyone is fit. Bailey rice deserves a chance for me.
Miovski would cost us as the sheep would want a fortune for him before they sell him to the championship for hardly anything. Mckenna would do a job but not a huge improvement on what we have tbh.

2.) 01 Jan 2024 12:36:35
55 if we offer Barron a contract he'll take it.

3.) 01 Jan 2024 12:37:47
Would take al 3 of them. Think McKenna has grown into a solid CB that would do a good job for us at left CB. Barron is probably the stand out young midfielder in the country just now and has potential to develop into a much better player. Miovski has great ability in front of goal and could be developed into a more complete striker.
For me all 3 would do a job but Miovski fee would be an issue.

4.) 01 Jan 2024 12:40:07
Sheep have knocked back 3 Mill and a player from celtic for miroski that's from a reliable source within celtic Park

Supposed too have said also they wouldn't want him at an opposing team in Scotland.

5.) 01 Jan 2024 12:41:25
N whether this is true or not the sheep are looking for upwards of at least 5 mill.

6.) 01 Jan 2024 13:08:55
I would take McKenna, would give us good pace and physicality at LCB. Barron is very good at winning back possession. He’s go a bit to go in possession, though. I’d probably have him over Raskin because he’s Scottish.

7.) 01 Jan 2024 13:21:03
I’d take all three especially Miovski but I can’t see them selling him to us and can’t see us paying what they want, I’d take Barron think he’s a very good young player but can you imagine if they sold us two of their best players their fans would revolt so just can’t see it but I hope I’m wrong.

8.) 01 Jan 2024 13:26:41
A would take Barron if he’s better than raskin no just because he’s Scottish.

9.) 01 Jan 2024 13:27:17
Ally. g72,reports everywhere that celtic have already contacted forest over scott mckenna and allegedly according to a poster on here, he's a celtic supporter ?.

10.) 01 Jan 2024 14:05:05
A club does not need to contact forest, free to talk to any club

Last week forest gave McKenna permission to speak to us.

11.) 01 Jan 2024 14:11:09
I find it hard to believe the mutton molesters would allow one player to join us never mind 2. Although i wouldn't be against us signing shankland i'd probably prefer Miovski, think he has a bit more pace about him and provides more long term value. that's my only criticism of Shankland, he is slow and will only get slower albeit he is an excellent finisher.

12.) 01 Jan 2024 14:32:44
McKenna not my cup of tea to be fair, he jumps into tackles and his positional play is erratic from what I’ve seen when playing for Forrest and Scotland, will back anyone we sign and hopefully wrong about what I’ve seen, a don’t think we would be looking at him if not Scottish and bombed out at forest and nearing end of contract.

13.) 01 Jan 2024 14:48:53
I think wee Yilmaz showed enough in the old firm game to be giving a chance at starting as or lb would keep him for at least another 6 months.

14.) 01 Jan 2024 15:24:23
Raskin loyal - of course we go with the best player., but I don’t think there’s much between them. I’ve not been overly impressed with Raskin apart from the occasional European game where he has played really well. Barron is unbelievable at winning the ball back and his high energy would really set the tone for the press. It is good to have Scottish players at the club. Walter Smith realised that straight away.

15.) 01 Jan 2024 15:25:36
John227,i honestly hope we can sign scott mckenna mate because i rate him and a left footed centre half into the bargain ? I wonder if Paul86 has any info regarding mckenna as he knows the family very well and stated months back that there's absolutely no chance mckenna would sign for rangers ?.

16.) 01 Jan 2024 15:53:10
I’m sorry but Barron ain’t better than Raskin ? Barron not even a regular in a struggling Aberdeen side. Folk want Barron but not shankland ??‍♂️? this page is nuts!

17.) 01 Jan 2024 16:00:33
Sir walter never once stated i know the family very well. My mates are mates with his brother. Am working away just now and as of a few months ago i haven't asked anymore questions. His dads got a ST at parkhead though if that helps.

18.) 01 Jan 2024 16:01:37
Papers reporting McKenna to Celtic.

19.) 01 Jan 2024 16:26:43
Sorry Paul86,i do apologise mate ?.

20.) 01 Jan 2024 16:38:32
doubt we’d sign Miovski. Rather have Shankland.

21.) 01 Jan 2024 16:47:30
Monty I agree that Raskin is a level above barron but he is only out their team because of the contract situation.
For me I think we sign him he will strengthen our side and weaken them. I think he would add that energy ee are currently desperately needing in the middle of the park. Would go as far as saying he could replace Jack. Love Jack but he just can't stay fit enough.

22.) 01 Jan 2024 16:48:38
Monty, robson said months ago he would not pick Barron till he committed to Aberdeen.

23.) 01 Jan 2024 17:04:47
Yilmaz had a ok second half didn’t find a rangers player in the first half. Prefer Barasic.

24.) 01 Jan 2024 17:05:36
Sir Walter - his dad is a customer where I work. Owns a big electrician company regularly attends Celtic Hospitality. Scott might not be a Celtic fan but his dad is.

25.) 01 Jan 2024 17:30:44
Not a fan of McKenna only decent thing he will win some of those headers in our own box something goldson tav and left backs never do.

26.) 01 jan 2024 17:42:01
get barron before we miss out again on scottish talent,

01 Dec 2023 13:49:21
Is there any news on a DOF?

I've read various rumours but with 4 weeks before a fairly important transfer window for outgoings and incoming, I'm concerned that there is no move on this.

allyg72

1.) 01 Dec 2023 16:25:04
After the sheep on the weekend and last nights display i doubt anyone decent would want the job.

2.) 01 Dec 2023 16:31:56
Nils Koppen.

3.) 01 Dec 2023 16:32:35
Just been confirmed lol.

4.) 01 Dec 2023 16:34:01
Announcements today.

5.) 01 Dec 2023 16:35:13
Nils Koppen from PSV.

6.) 01 Dec 2023 16:38:28
Koppen just announced.

7.) 01 Dec 2023 16:41:29
Just announced. Nils Koppen from PSV Eindhoven as Director of Football Recruitment, subject to receipt of a work permit.

8.) 01 Dec 2023 16:41:57
Nils koppen, previous of psv.

Done deal.

9.) 01 Dec 2023 16:44:57
Yes there is word. good timing this post haha.

10.) 01 Dec 2023 17:19:46
Great to see a dof appointment, we r keeping some very key issues well under radar, well done the board.

11.) 01 Dec 2023 17:20:56
Tom Taylor of B+HA is head of performance.

12.) 01 Dec 2023 17:33:50
Aye, no one will take a huge job like rangers dof because of two draws ?.

13.) 01 Dec 2023 17:55:23
Re appointment of dof, I’m not sure he is a direct replacement for our previous DoF Wilson

Rangers have given him title of Director of Football Recruitment, he was part of the scouting team at PSV.
He worked under a Chief of Scouting, who then reported to a Director of Football

Rangers do state his appointment competes recruitment to our football board.
Also that he is responsible for revamping auchenhowie, recruitment, contracts.

I wish him all the best and look forward to see who we target.

14.) 01 Dec 2023 19:40:02
Good news, hopefully uses the dutch and Belgian markets instead of lower England. Is there any update on the Graeme Souness situation anyone?

15.) 01 Dec 2023 19:52:19
John, can we assume we've split Wilson's role between the two announced today then?

16.) 01 Dec 2023 21:25:43
Sir Walter. Taylor totally different role from anything Wilson done.

Looks like DoF recruitment has a different terms of reference from Wilson

Mb let’s him concentrate on first team and academy.

11 Jun 2023 17:53:42
hearing Souttar's injury is not the old ankle problem but an achillies injury sustained in a cardio session.

allyg72

1.) 11 Jun 2023 18:26:10
Hopefully it is just a more minor injury. Feel sorry for the guy because he is more than good enough to play for rangers but i fear he could end up in the Kemar Roofe category fairly quickly.

2.) 11 Jun 2023 18:28:50
He's had 2 or 3 Achilles injuries before ?.

3.) 11 Jun 2023 19:07:40
The guy has been plagued by injuries for years. We cannot go into next season depending on him to be a starter as he will miss a huge chunk of our games. Davies just hasn’t got the physicality or mentality required. Also, Goldson will be spending the summer recovering from an injury.

We need a defense that is rock solid after preseason if we are going to make it into the Champions League. You can’t help but feel more work must be done in this area even if we do get Panzo. Getting Davies out, and replacing him, would be good news.

4.) 11 Jun 2023 19:33:55
If it is an Achilles heel injury it's not good news he has a history of such injuries.

5.) 11 Jun 2023 20:12:13
Injury isn’t as bad as papers trying to make out. Rangers just wanting to protect him. Family friend only reason I know.

6.) 11 Jun 2023 20:17:52
Are we really that surprised souttar injured we went into that deal with our eyes open and still went ahead and signed him.

7.) 11 Jun 2023 20:19:58
Really need a CB that will not just partner Goldson but potentially be better. Too many of our defence has mistakes in them that had cost us dearly last few years. Draws at home come to mind. Hopefully a more potent attack negates the occasional lapse in defence.

8.) 11 Jun 2023 23:03:30
Soutter is a top cb, foot injury.

9.) 12 Jun 2023 00:54:05
Souttar had part of his achillies temoved.

10.) 12 Jun 2023 04:03:59
Souttar has legs made of cheese strings I'd rather give his wages to someone who can at least stay fit for a quarter of a season.

11.) 12 Jun 2023 09:42:10
We did get Souttar for nowt, there must be a reason hearts decided to let him go, at the time it seemed like a back up option if we could get him fit and kept fit, with potential resale value, could be one of those cases where the lads legs / ankles have seen too many ops and break down again too often, i guess time will tell, heres hoping John makes a quick recovery, either way Beale knows we need 2-3 reliable talented, strong CBs for the season ahead, if we can Panzo and Trusty in and Davies sold we will be doing very well in that department, with Barisic offered a contract extension and Tavernier, Goldson, Yilmaz and Sterling in the squad for the upcoming challenges the CB position is what needs addressed to complete our defence.

12.) 12 Jun 2023 09:57:33
Souttar is the best defender we have by far for me. He is the only one who actually looks like he likes defending. Fingers crossed he is fit for start of the season because for me he is first pick in that area.

13.) 12 Jun 2023 10:20:01
L/ H hearts never let him go he never signed another contract.

14.) 12 Jun 2023 10:25:39
Someone a know seen him the other day he was walking about fine and the person told him to keep fit for next season he laughed and says he’s ready to go.

15.) 12 Jun 2023 11:29:54
In the games that I have seen him play since he came back into the Team Souttar is head and shoulders above any other centre backs in the SPL. We must do all that we can to keep him fit and ideally he concentrates on Rangers and retires from the Scotland set up since he doesn't benefit from the extra games.

He will never win anything with Scotland but he could become a legend at rangers!

16.) 12 Jun 2023 12:58:06
What happened in our interest in that young Danish boy, he would be a good signing.

17.) 12 Jun 2023 14:35:23
Heats did have a choice he was coming to us regardless his contract was up shortly after.

18.) 12 Jun 2023 17:53:48
Probably need to hold onto Davies.

Disappointed if the Balogun rumours are true. A superb servant but the last 2 years have been unkind on speed and fitness.

There are better options. Cedric Kipre, Liam Lindsay, Ryan Porteous (mmm maybe not) . None are idea btw but better options than Balogun.

Beale stated in January that no short term purchases would be part of his transfer policy. He stated again in March that players who could give Rangers 2-4 years would be the only signings he would make.

We badly require a good CB. Our signings have been good but failure to ensure we have a decent CB cover will cost us dear.

I have read about the boy and he seems to be well regarded.

05 Mar 2023 16:20:56
RW seems to split opinion on here. I empathise with him and the Board. Our DoF faces significant challenges, namely identifying players who can be sold at a profit. We relied heavily on the Patterson sale for a surplus in 2022 and we still require a player trading model that produces an annual surplus. Failure to do this exposes the Club to risks. In this, RW has had some success and the 23 accounts will prove this.

Buying in the bargain basement section is no easy task and that is where he must shop. The Board has my backing and I'd like RW to stay, but I suspect he may take the hint and seek pastures new. I just hope we don't rue the day.

allyg72

1.) 05 Mar 2023 17:33:49
The issue I have is we’ve held on for players for too long and we’ve spent a lot of money on players who aren’t good enough. The only player in recent years I’d say we sold for maximum value was Bassey and I praised Wilson for that deal. To get whatever we did for Patterson when he had only played x amount of games was a good deal as well. However, let’s look at a couple examples of players who have stayed past their peaks: buff was a 15m player, kent was 10m+, Kamara was 10m+, Barasic 5-10m. We’ll be lucky to get 5m for all of them.

In a functioning trading model you sell players at their peak value and reinvest in players you can grow before selling them on in a couple of years. We’re still relying on players who were sold on delivering 55 and after delivering it they should’ve been sold on whole their stock was high and bring in new players for the next chapter. Also a lot of signings in recent years you’d be lucky to get any fee to get rid of them never mind even breaking even.

2.) 05 Mar 2023 17:46:19
Rue the day? Name 5 ross wilson signings which have been successful please. Or any current youth players that are making that much of an impact they could match pattersons fee?

3.) 05 Mar 2023 18:05:10
You can only sell if there is a buyer.

4.) 05 Mar 2023 19:36:53
Who gets the credit for all the good signings celtic have made? Nicky Hammond or Ange?

So why does RW get the stick when we've signed dross?

I agree that we've held players too long and the players we've brought in haven't been good enough but I think it's a bit naive to blame it all on RW.

Its likely the scouting department and managers doing most of the identifying of players.

I wondered if the reason so few players have made it at ibrox recently is the fact fans can't wait to jump on their back a soon as they put a foot wrong.

5.) 05 Mar 2023 21:02:21
Scottish, i'm away tomorrow so kast post for a while. I said a couple of years ago that ibrox has always had a reputation as being a very difficult place to play in, it has a closeness and atmosphere that only some players can deal with.
I also said in 55 year a big part of the reason was no fans, I was torn to pieces but I will stick by that view.
also said crazy valuations if Kent morelos of 30 odd million was laughable, again I was ripped apart.

I said roofe had a dreadful reputation among guys I knew who had experience of him, again I got terrible abuse for daring to question him and why he came to Scotland, roofe in particular has massive ability but no heart whatsoever. To me it's clear that we have watched players of ridiculously little skills earn the biggest paydays they will ever earn playing against st mirrren and Livingston and often looking worse than there.

This isn't a one off poor game, this is the normal now, I watched alf come on yesterday and he couldn't control a football, Kent is Kent, next to useless, the only guy who looked like a decent footballer was cantwell who must have been looking around and asking himself why he's here, there's a massive question mark over why beale is our manager imo. Massive, if Kent and morelos signed new contracts, I honestly think I will never see the league title again,

that might sound harsh, but, this past couple of years has been as poor as when we were in div 3, we are second favs for everything, a distance behind celtic and a novice manager who has twice made the most ridiculous decisions in an old firm game, we need a manager not a coach, celtic have zero concern about rangers, our “ stars” are a laughing stock, remove any offers and start again before we become any worse, none are going to get better, il never in my life understand how kent earns s9 much, and i won't upset alfs followers, watching him try to control a ball is painful, we need to keep colak and bring another striker in, and a whole new defence imo,

A few of their signings in last year or so haven’t worked out either, but they have got more right than wrong.

, its like we are constantly fighting against a major power, and it shouldn't be that way.

Correct RFC22.McCrorie is a good GK but I've seen nothing to indicate he's anywhere near 1st choice Rangers in the foreseeable future. Someone mentioned he's a future Scotland number 1.not from what I've seen.

John, you seem pretty negative about our manager and keen to defend the Board at all costs e. g. reference to liking sound of his own voice.

I like Beale. he has grown on me. I like his communication, transparency and his honesty. The Board has been slow to back him in this window, and I just wonder if his transfer comments are putting a marker down for the Board, i. e timescale, number of targets, and type of player. He has stated clearly what his expectations are, something GvB didn't do publicly, to his detriment I expect. Board. over to you. Back him. soon! I.
