Long time since I have posted. I am not as close to this as you guys who make it to games every week but been a supporter a long time and this situation really gets me down. MB certainly talks a good game and I do think he is a clever guy and perhaps the right guy at the wrong time or maybe not. Injuries not helping but I think the worst thing is the club should have been stronger and pushed on with a good DOF. This DOF then should be pulling MB to task. I don't think season is a disaster. yet but we need to progress in Europe, win the cup and make up league form very quickly. I don't think a lot will change in the next 4 weeks in terms of MB. If it did I would be open to warnock with a couple of good rangers men, DOF employed and also if we are safely ahead in games get some youngster on. They are neither getting better or becoming sellable assets as it is now.

Evening fellow Gers.
Not posted for a while. I am excited but equally nervous about the major rebuild this summer. I am not an expert on other leagues etc so won't band names about but I hope we can really get a couple of great striking options that don't cost the earth or do but if they do they really need to perform from day one. Would like to see Lovelace get a chance when the opp arises. I would also like to see us sign defensive brick outhouses (talent a given) . I hope Matondo does well but I would love to see a classy winger like Olson we should have signed. I am also going to add I am glad to see so many current players go and hopefully a couple more to follow. Players with a winning mentality, never say die attitude and the right skills would be great please Mr Beale ?. It would also be good to see some character back in football. I know it is all

I think we have the biggest rebuild for years
Goalie- I like Mccrorie but the fact we keep getting linked with Butland and the fact he has not been put in under successive managers is a worry
Defence- every position needs thought out. Tav and Goldson will get more injuries. Souttar has been good lately but I'm not convinced. Would sell Barisic so we avoid a Kent situation imo
Midfield- Cantwell fs and Raskin. Lundstram like borna if he's no signing gb. Kamara is like Alfie a year or two too long. Lawrence is like a new signing and Tillman is up for debate. We need players that work?
Up front. if I hear Van Veen or Shankland again.

Things shaping up nicely. If we can find the right mix of splashing the cash on players who could be sold on for a large profit then it will be obey well spent IMO. I would like to see a very good GK 25-30 coming in, LB Turkish lad looks good, No 10 and 2 strikers. One top notch and a young striker with promise. Then let's concentrate on getting everyone out on loan or SOLD. The Jan window won't be long in coming in so even we sell one or two too many we should be covered until then? . I think this squad could be the best we have had for a long long time.

I really don’t understand why folk keep on saying they want to see us sign a ‘no.10’. We’ve brought in both Lawrence and Tillman, both of which preferred position is as a no. 10. We then have Hagi still to come back again who prefers to play there (I know it won’t be till the second half of the season, but it does mean we’ll have 3 players for that position by then. And as a back up even Arfield can play there (not as creative but very good at bursting into the box to finish off chances) .
So why do we need to bring in another no.10?

Still like to see a Goalkeeper, striker, no10, left back and central defender. Unless we have youths to step up. Move out Mcrorie, helander, Simpson, Barasic, Roofe, etc.

Can see where you coming from but not sure we get that many new faces. Think it will be an either or for LB/ CB and Bassey will fill in any gap.

Have to move players out first. Not sure why we’d need a number 10. We’ve got Lowry, Lawrence and Hagi in a few months. I don’t see why Helander needs to move, he’s had serious injuries that anyone could get, but seems to be almost ready. I’d sell Barisic if there was a good offer, but keep him if not. McCrorie needs to make a decision but I’d only punt him if he wanted to go. Looks like Morelos is staying, so him and Colak for the central spot, with Ure as back up if he doesn’t go on loan. Roofe and Sakala probably on shoogly pegs, so maybe there’s scope for an additional striker provided they leave first. I’d be inclined to keep Middleton for cup games and the odd league game and European squad if Kent needs rested. The lad scores goals and offers something different (especially if there’s space - see Europa league) and is Scottish.

Not sure ure would be my back up choice from b team to be honest. If it was down that route then mcausland or weston is who I would have said weston, but obviously he's away on loan.

Orange, ure appears to have the build that Gio likes in a player, mcausland very good, but needs more muscle and a loan imo

DTB Rumours are that Roofe has constant niggles and some may be in the mind. Helander has just been unlucky with bad injuries.

I might have this wrong. Middleton signed 31st January 2018 aged 18, he became 22 on 1st January 2022, 4 years later. So he was between 18 and 21 for the minimum 3 years to qualify as homegrown. Is that correct?

Yes but I think there is a rider re loan deals being subtracted from the time. U could clarify it for yourself by reading articles 43 re player registration for CL and europa.

I don’t believe loan deals are a problem if with same association (4 of the allowed 8 A list players can be association trained) . He did spend half a season on loan at Bradford but I still think he’s had over 3 years in Scotland. 18 months Rangers, 6 months Hibs, 18 months St Johnstone. It’s article 45. He started season 21-22 aged 21 so that full season counts. My interpretation anyway!
I quite like him as a player because he scores goals and is good when there’s room to operate. He’s a Rangers fan and it’s good to have them around if the direct competition is no better e. g. IMO Sakala.

Glad our signing spree is picking up and that these guys work out in our league and in Europe. If we have saved on these players I would do the best deal we can get on Roofe and get his wages put to better use. We need to decide if Mcrorie has a future or move him on. Use the funds to get a younger keeper who can challenge fully for no 1spot.

I agree that the players who don’t seem to have a future need to go. We have quality youth players who should be able to step up and Jan window won’t be too far away once this window closes. Hopefully the new guys don’t end up injured though….
