After reading the report on the Largs Thistle v Auchinleck Talbot Junior Cup Final, the article went on to quote some interesting history of previous cup finals. The one that stood out was Petershill v Irvine Meadow, the crowd was almost 78, 000, back in 1951.
Now, I know that's 75 years ago when things were dramatically different, but in those days, people got off their bahookies, and got themselves outdoors, after all, it was only 6 years after WW2 and people were just so glad to be alive.

Was at 1970 final Penicuik v Blantyre Vic official attendance 26, 500, but there was estimated 35, 000, great day out, Juniors always a bit doggy on attendance figures. ?

I was at the 1962 Final between my team Irvine Meadow and Shettleston Juniors. Crowd was 62, 000. I also was at a game in an earlier round between Irvine Meadow and Linlithgow Rose at Meadow Park in Irvine when Meadow won 7-1 and Scotsport, with Arthur Montford, were at the match.
Linlithgow were an excellent team in those days. One of the players in the 1973 team was Eric Morris, junior player of the year, who was a left winger. Rangers signed him and played him at left back, typical eh lads. Those were great days for good honest football.
