Ok fellow bears we'll presume the rumours to be true and we sign both midfielders from everton and norwich city respectively, tom davies and todd cantwell ? Is it just me as i can't see at this moment in time any of these 2 midfielders, going straight into our starting 11 and as beale did say the 2 or 3 player's he's currently talking to are players who will go into our starting 11 ? Assuming that it may not be davies and cantwell we're trying/ going to sign afterall ?Thoughts guys ?.

I can’t imagine anyone going straight into our starting 11 but his aim will be to blend them in over time or the games of the players in the side now raise to a level that keeps them out, he did say about having to equally strong 11 which will create very healthy comp for places and they fight for the jerseys, can only do that by bringing players at least as good as what’s in there already, and younger. They both fall into that for me.

SWS Cantwell is an interesting one he was highly regarded when Norwich were in the EPL and had a good season with them. Seems to have lost his way recently. If he was coming in he plays left of midfield so I would think a replacement for Kamara. Is he any better, not sure ? If Beale can get him rediscovering his form we could get a really good player.

I'd have to say I can't see Davies being a starter, if we get the Cantwell of 2 years ago he would be a starter but he's been a shadow of that player recently. I do hope it's that Willock as it's clear we need more wingers and he looks a good shout for a relatively low fee. Would also take that Algerian boy we were looking at but hopefully we don't have long to wait till we find out.

There is nothing to lose you with Beale, if we continue to work with free transfers only Rangers will decline as a team. I honestly don't know how that is hard to understand. Proper money needs spent on this team and filling it up with free transfers won't cut it imo.

What part of my post did I say they are not good enough? I said if this is our transfer policy in general we will suffer. Again its my opinion yes we might get one or two good free transfers but we require money spent on this team or we will decline. Again this is my opinion your opinion seems to be your happy to spend 600 bucks on a season book to watch a team of free transfers which is fine by me if your happy. As I said I'm not happy with it and I don't see the problem here.

Sweep absolutely nonsense. Lundstram free and is our best midfielder. Spending money doesn't always work. So do we leave rankin if he's a free? The thing about free transfers is if it doesn't work its not a great financial loss. Have some optimism and stop being negative!

If Kent and Morelos don't sign new contracts they will be available to other teams as a free. Sometimes decent players just reach the end at a club and go elsewhere. To think they're not good because they're a free is wrong in my view.

I'm not happy with our current position and lundstram yes hasn't been on form it happens. He has also had injuries he has played through. Say we are going to buy tillman that's money we'll spent and I think we will. Also in my opinion the leagues not over yet. Also we spent apparently 7 on yilmaz 4 on Davies 2 on colak and only one has been a hit so far. So spending does not always work does it?

So basically our midfield 3 will be Lundstram (a free from Sheffield utd) Davies (a player who can't get in a bottom 6 EPL club) and Cantwell ( a player that can't get in the Norwich side) Celtic must be quaking in their boots for next season.

A lot of people have been saying the same about Alfredo that you can’t go with that he use to be a player but are quite happy to do it with cantwell and they contradict themselves in doing so.

I’m actually agreeing with sweep here, to an extent. iF we are looking ONLy at free transfers then we’re really narrowing down the pond in which we’re fishing in for new players, and yes we might unearth a couple of gems. If we do that but also are prepared to spend money too, we’re then fishing in a much bigger pond and have a greater chance of success. I’d hope our signing policy is the latter.

Lundstrum valuation 8 million playing with ankle and rib injury
Davies 10 million
Cantwell 8 million. Three seasons ago Liverpool bid 30 million for him, spurs Man U man c Newcastle all wanted him

So represent fantastic business, especially as we need to remain prudent

It's all just press speculation. We do our business in secret and the press just throw names at the wall in the hope one or two will stick. So far I've see us, linked with about fifteen players, Beale says 3 or 4 so most of it is nonsense.

Why would we be looking at only frees alloager? did we not pay cash for player's in the summer? we got to a European final with a team we assembled for under 15m, Lundstram Davies Cantwell would be a great midfield sweep, probably the best we had since our times playing in the lower leagues.

We should never discount players at end of contracts - just as other clubs do.
However the right blend of signings should be attempted - ie - few free signings and perhaps then spending some cash on maybe a marquee signing - we are not flush with money and the Jan window is not always where value or quality of players are available so I would rather the right players are sourced if not Jan then summer.
No panic buys please! We can hopefully see our OWN youth given a platform too. blended into the team as required.

In the end it is all conjecture anyway. Did anybody say that we would only be swimming in the free transfers only pool? If not then everything is hypothetical. People seem to be getting their knickers in a twist about things that may or may not happen. I'll reserve judgement on any signings until they actually sign.

Sweep3 just think about for a minute mate ?As John27 states in his post above, tom davies was valued at £10million and todd cantwell at the minute valued at £8million which was much more several years ago when a lot of the big guns in england were prepared to pay £30million to sign him ?So if we do manage to sign davies and cantwell and the perform as we know they can, do you not think that's terrific business by our club, i most certainly do because they're both very talented, young midfielders mate ?.

Sir Walter, Kent and Morelos were valued at 10 and 20m respectively and some folk would get rid for nothing and be happy. Previous values are only a small indicator.
