Was down in Blackpool at the weekend, . watching Barasic again being ripped a new one from the Blackpool player, Bowler, no.11 on his back . if this man continues to be our left back, we will get knocked out CL qualifiers, he simply can't defend, he costs us goals last season and neither has the mentality or the ability to be our no.1l left back, I sure other teams will have noticed this . thoughts guys?

Katic was at fault for blackpools goals and barsic scored our goal lol he’s always been better going forward.

Bassey i thot it was davis at fault. Katic tried to block the the play davis completely left the runner and let him run through to score.

Baraasic is a, quality player yes sometimes he can be caught out. but every player does at some point . Its, still pre seaaom and this the time to get the rust out and be ready for what's coming.

We often blame the full back as "out of position" when the get left upfield. Tav gets it a lot too.
This is an issue with our formation not necessarily the player.
I do think Barasic has his faults but we use Jack/ Lundstram to cover Tav and it's down to the team to cover the full backs . So in essence Katic/ Barasic and Davis all take responsibility for lost goal.

I also feel we need a better LB than Borna - he’s a very good backup but for the big games with a lot at stake I’m not sure he is the man for that - I’ve always liked him as a player and he was immense when we won the league but after last season I’m not so sure.

Reading your post. i have seen tav get ripped a new one defensively from hippotle of falkirk. ripped apart from qos. ripped apart at kille. Blackpool or championship side all far greater tha and of the sides tav has taken a roasting from. Both players are far far better going forward. We already know this.

Bassey also got ripped to shreds in the Cup defeat at St Mirren and was replaced early second half.
Less than 2 years later he is away for £20+ million.
It's a strange game, football at times.
All players are guilty of errors at times.

I thought Katic, being nutmegged on the edge of the box and big souttar sliding straight past the goalscorer might have something to do with it myself.
On another note i watched the Belgian team beat Feyenoord in their friendly (I know it was a friendly b4 you start), they are quick going forward with 2 wingers who like to run at and past defenders! we can't carry anyone in this game.

Barisisc did cost us a couple of goals last season, notably against Celtic, but then so did Tav, Goldson, Bassey, Balogun and Helander so do we get rid of them all? Actually in Europe I have no worries, he plays better there than in the league.

Katic and Davis were most probably the two players mainly at fault for the Blackpool goal and I can't see either of them playing regularly for us next season. For me, Davis is now too slow and would be better used as a mentor for young McCann than playing for the first team. As for centre back I presume that Goldson and Davies will be our starting centre backs unless we go three at the back.
Our style of game is to have two attacking full backs. The onus therefor is on the midfield players to make sure they give cover and for the centre backs to read the game.
The weakest part of our defence next season will be goalkeeper unless we sign a replacement for McGregor.

Dothebouncy ? you’re not allowed to concede in your first games of the pre season either.

Paul86 if Tav was to play at his best all the time he wouldn’t be with us.

He is a quality player who brings soo much to our club where many CM’s fail! Without him we would have lost many more games and not qualified for the EL final.

The way he plays will, at times leave us open.
