I don't think he is even close to being considered for the job in the first place. They will be able to attract any manager they want and Gerrard has won 1 trophy in 3 yrs in the Scottish league won't be what they are after. I think the bookies are the only ones who would make you believe this is true so they make lots of easy money.

If he did go does anyone think Gary Mac would stay. I've loved the way we've played football but I've not loved the favouritism of some players. I could never imagine Walter being like that. the substitutions at the weekend were crazy. We were pressing hearts once the substitutions were made it was us that were pressed as the game was at a pace that players after an international break couldn't just wander into. I love Stevie g what he's done for us and the pulling power he has but if he wants to go and the money is right then let him go and the same with anyone else that wants out. I've made my feelings clear on dictatorships and football if you want to be a part of it go but they've got the cash and we have your contract so I'd want tens of millions for him.

My info is via a youth coach, personally I’d be surprised if he chose to leave our club just now, however, a crack at champions league isn’t guaranteed unless we win the league. He wants cash to spend in January and that is looking unlikely. If we don’t win the league this year does SG stay? and would that hinder his goal of being Liverpool manager when Klopp goes.

Scott123 I find that to be very unprofessional behaviour from our manager. I wish that I was an advisor to Mr Gerrard and I would let him know that he should not be confiding in the youth team coaches letting them know what his future career intentions are. I wander who else he's told this to because these things should be kept a secret between coaches and people employed within Murray Park excluding the groundsmen because they are well known gossip merchants🤣.

Doesn't happen anyway, the youths will mainly be in at night, us during the day. Gerrardcwill hardly see the youth coaches let alone tell them his career plans. Weird I know a boy on the groundstaff and he never knows anything. He must be the only one stevie g doesn't confide in🤷‍♂️😂.

Livibear it’s a hard one because it doesn’t matter how much cash they would be willing to throw at us for our managers services, if he doesn’t want to be here anymore then there’s no point in keeping him. That’s hypothetically speaking of course. I personally think that he’ll want a crack at the champions league with us before going.

For me McAllister isn't in the same league as Gerrard having previously failed as a manager and if Gerrard was to go then, (on the assumption that Gerrard would take guys like Beale with him), then we need to find a better alternative to take over that McAllister. That said, I don't believe that Gerrard will go to Newcastle. Any new manager is on a hiding to nothing at Newcastle since they are at real risk of relegation and one transfer window is not going to resolve their problems irrespective of the amount of money spent.
I do however believe that we will need to find the funds to allow Gerrard to strengthen in January since to win the league we will need reinforcements at Centre back and also in attack. Otherwise Gerrard will be getting frustrated. He clearly didn't get the quality of player needed in the summer and it is now showing with the points that we are dropping.

Gerrard hasn’t told my mate directly, it was the chat between youth coaches.
What will give him the best chance of impressing and improving as a coach? Rangers maybe winning the league and having a go in champions league or having a go at Newcastle in the EPL with money to burn and only way is up from where they are at. the Liverpool job is his goal.

Just been through McDonalds drive through in a Hamilton and the guy in the window confirmed that Gerald went through this afternoon and said he’d definitely accept the anew castle job.

That make two reliable sources who have said the same thing so surely the board will be looking for his successor

Scotty 123, I would suggest that there is more than one way for Newcastle in the short term and they are more likely to go down this season than stay up. By the time we reach the January transfer window they could be even more rooted to the bottom. There is no guarantee that, despite their wealth, that Newcastle will secure the players that they need, (and that is a fair few on Sunday's performance against Spurs) . I think Gerrard, or anyone else for that matter, would be crazy to take that job just now.

It was initially chat amongst youth coaches and I was told during a separate chat last night. I don’t know how many coaches were involved in the chat, only that 1 of the coaches was told that if given permission SG would be up for talking to Newcastle about the position. I thought I would share it on here for some discussion.

The more I thought about it, why would he not want to speak to Newcastle. Take us Rangers fans out of the equation. I hear the point he wants a crack at he champions league, he’s struggling with our current squad in the europa league this year, so he wants more cash. is taking us into the champions league going to raise his profile if we lose every game? IF he goes to Newcastle he would be putting his coaching skills up against Man City, Liverpool, Man Utd every week and his only expectation initially would be to stay in the league, he will then have silly money to spend with expectation of making a euro comp, it’s a slow burner and he will be given every tool to succeed. As a coach I know where I’d be choosing.
