pretty obvious that the reason gerard left in haste was due to the same problem GVB is up against and that being he has pretty much zero influence on transfer policy. Its all coming from The director of football who and the top brass and basically they operate on a tight budget that suits their wallets. One shining light may well be that it stops what happened all those years ago happening again due to managers who seem to perform based on being able to splash the cash and when the new million pound signings fail to make the spl grade off goes the manager to clubs that WILL splash the cash and much like Gerards present status it doesn't work. Gone are the days when managers could make a team perform based on good football ethics and fitness other than how their hair looks in the mirror before entering the arena. next up will be players looking to carry their cell phones in a pocket in their shorts . just in case they have to do an emergency photo op. on the pitch. Ryan would love that and it may make him play better. who knows.

Deecee you're spot on mate regarding how gerrard left rangers when the first big job became available to him?I'm sick saying it on here that if dave king had still been at rangers then steven gerrard, michael beale and co would still be at rangers because king would have backed gerrard with money to take rangers to the next level and to stay in front of celtic, after securing title no.55!The current board didn't back gerrard fully to take us to the next level and to keep celtic at arms length ?Beale touched on this when some of our supporters were criticising them for leaving and i quote beale's statement to our supporters ie. "you wouldn't believe what was going on"

a good manager can set his team up to compete against far superior teams, but he has to be a very good coach in the first place, the chelsea manager is a classic example, as is david martindale and a few others, walter was very good at it.

I'll go by what has been confirmed by the club, Ross Wilson, Gerrard and Gio. The scouts and DoF create a list of players they recommend. The manager can also suggest players for this list to be scouted. After scouting they reduce down the list and from that reduced list the manager has final say on whether to pursue any of them or not. doesn't always mean manager gets his way as a deal can't always be made. Much the same as most modern football clubs.

SG was always going the the EPL with the riches on offer.

Dave King would have made no difference at all when Villa came calling because we cannot compete financially.

It’s ok to to dream but everyone has to wake up someday and accept that until we have the income streams of the EPsl we are stuck in a football backwater that is heading towards Irish league status.

Bassey, the fact we didn't sign a Dutch players tells me nothing.

It was well documented that we did try to sign a couple of players from the Dutch league, however neither wanted to come to Scotland.


I also know from a couple of close friends that we have added a number of players from the Dutch league, and from a couple of highly rated African academy's, to our scouting profiles.

All of which come from Gio and his backroom team.
