When i define a football player as a legend i think they not only need to be good players for their club, but must have the full package ?
They must have ability, how they carry themselves and are looked upon by fellow teammates, how reliable they are with game appearances and how well they train and become role models for others. How they conduct themselves not only on the field of play, but also away from the field of play.
The journey they've had within their club and so on ? Our glasgow rangers captain james tavernier has all of the above and epitomises everything i would expect from a legend of our great club and of course what they've achieved and won as a player with their club ?James tavernier has been with us and came through the hard times and completed the journey taking the famous glasgow rangers back to the pinnacle of scottish football by winning title no.55 the season before last. Tav imo will and most definitely should be inducted into the rangers HOF whenever that is because in my eyes he's without doubt a rangers legend ?For a right back james tavernier 's stats and numbers are not just good, they are stunning ?Tav is an athlete and terrific footballer who leads by example and has the respect of his teammates as he's the perfect role model and captain of our great club ? He's had a hard time by some supporters for defensive mistakes from time to time which he has made, but what full back hasn't made defensive mistakes especially the ones like tav who are told to go forward at all costs because that now in the modern day full back is what is wanted by most clubs ?Tav is the modern day attacking right full back and i tend to focus on and most definitely appreciate the terrific attacking attributes he brings to our team and his numbers are to die for? He's like i've stated an athlete and undoubtedly deserves to be called a glasgow rangers legend not to mention a testimonial for his loyalty on the horizon ??? Enjoy tav while he's with rangers because nothing lasts forever!

Very under rated, his stats are incredible

Speaks well, good with other players and leads by example, stopped 10 in a row and led us to a European final

Class player, but not yet a legend in my opinion sir Walter

However I do feel he will get to that legendary status with this group of players and manager by the time that testimonial comes around.

I'd like to see him share the set pieces about a bit more if I'm honest. So many corners and free kicks were wasted last season imo.

Sweep1 that's fair enough pal and you're entitled to your opinion but tav's goals and assists are on the incredible scale for me mate ?.

Great post SWSOBE, he is very much a legend, I think though it's only over the last 18 months, that the fans have finally seen and accepted just how good a player our skipper is.

I agree Walter but when your taking over 20 set pieces most games your more likely to get an assist. I'd just like to see him share them about a bit more.

He is very underrated
he’s been some player for us and a cracking professional an elite athlete
Long may it continue he’s a bit different from captains of the past
but he’s up there and he has my full support
think he genuinely is a really good guy and like I say a cracking player with great stats all over the park
great to hear he’s signing anew contract and I think it’s shown how much he loved our club and will probably now retire here at rangers can’t ever see him going anywhere else and he might end up with a coaching job with youth players at some point
What you think sir Walter?

Like any team, a lot of advantages are not taken with set pieces, corners in particular I would love to see a bit more variety from, instead of the ball continually lumped into the middle!

Every possibly he could end up with a coaching job in the future Thestigno1 ? I totally agree that he'll finish his playing career at rangers and i'll take a stab in the dark prediction that tav's testimonial, will be against his boyhood idols leeds utd ?.

Sir Walter off course he will be in hall of fame, every permanent captain enters hall off fame when they leave.

Well written, Sir Walter. I think that when so many new additions come into the team and yet there is still a healthy respect for the club captain, who has been there for years, then that tells you he is the right guy for the job.
