Just a wee post on James Sands.

I was quite excited by his capture when it came about but after watching him on several occasions, I just didn't see what he had to offer.

Now I think I'm slowly starting to come round to the boy. I see a player there who is starting to grow. His ball retention is very good and always does the simple things very well even under pressure.

Maybe if given the chance this season we will see just how good the boy can be. I'm not sure exactly what his best position is. But looking forward to seeing how he does this year. what's your thoughts?

I don't think the boy does much wrong? For his age he's quite composed for his age.

I agree to a certain extent but we struggle against teams at set piece and to me sands isn't the answer. I like davies signing but from what I've seen he's a similar player. I suppose that's the trade off but we create too many corners for us not to score enough from it think it's a missed chance and why I still think there's a chance for Katic.

He doesn't seem to be a big personality on the pitch. He doesn't stand out. But he always seems to be in the right place and maybe that's what you want from a defender. Too many of our previous defenders are caught out of position while trying to look flashy. He seems quietly competent and comfortable with his role.

Very neat and tidy, good footballer. Doesn't panic and can pick a pass. Also able to get stuck in if required. Comfortable in midfield as well. I think he is a very useful guy to have around.

I don't think katic has any chance at all of a regular slot. Actually think he may still move on this summer.

We won't keep Katic in the hope he gets the odd goal from set plays when it weakens our back line compared to others.

James Sands is a really good player. He hasn't really done anything wrong in a Rangers Jersey but probably just hasn't had a proper chance. He's tough in the tackle, decent in the air, composed on the ball and reads the game well. I think with a run of games he would turn into a very good Rangers player. Right or Centre of a back 3 is where I'd play him but he has a lot of competion to play ahead of Goldson or Souttar.

Still think Sands needs to toughen up a bit but he looked better last night . Davies is another guy who can play out from the back which is our method of playing . Katic is good in the air but the rest of his game doesn`t fit with our style of play. I reckon he will be gone before the window closes.

Sands was very good last night when he came on. He hits a lovely crisp pass and is good in the tackle. He might not be the best in the air but he is a good footballer. I think the problem we have now is that Souter was signed to replace goldson, now with goldson staying Souter will be the one that misses out. It also puts sands in a difficult position as he would have been probably seen as defensive cover and midfield cover on a match day freeing up another attacking option. Now with Davies signing and Souter as cover sands will be fighting for a midfield slot which will not be easy. Unless of course we go 3 at back. Sands/ Souter, goldson and Davies. Helander to come back as well. As a baller sands is def up there.

Ben davies very similar styled centre half to connor goldson only left footed ?Both have very similar attributes and gives our backline the perfect balance with big souttar in the centre if we play a back 3???.

Agree the lad is a fine player, reads the game well, isn't scared of a tackle and is comfortable passing out from the back.
However (broken record) he doesn't help us defending or attacking corners - we are woeful at both ends, and will be caught again like last night.
Just need to be 3 up beforehand ;-)
