Here's a question folks. Gio has a huge first decision to make. Does he keep Tav as Captain or give the arm band to someone else. Personally I think the pressure is too much and it should be given to possibly Jack.

I agree As1974, give Jack the armband. Patterson must now surely be given a chance and I hope Gio pushes Tav into midfield. The sooner Helander is back the better and Katic should be recalled.

I think Tav will remain captain to keep the dynamics the same. On his day Tav is up there with any player in his position going forward anyway. Defence he will always be suspect but on Sunday he baled out Goldson twice. I like Tav but being captain restricts the chance for Patterson to make more appearances. It’s hard to drop your captain as we have seen this season. Be interesting to see how Gio sees it.

Guys like McGregor, Davis, Jack etc should already be stepping up when things aren't right.
Now Gio did say Tav was an important member of the SQUAD, not team.
So there will be no sentiments regarding team selection.
Kuyt has already said he was friendly with Gio and he dropped him to the bench when he came to Feyenoord.

Tav has never been played in midfield so why the derisory remarks when someone suggests this? We don't know. And why not Jack as captain?

As1974 to be honest Tav is the best of a bad bunch if you are looking at captain material. Not any other defender Davis too old, Arfield too injured, we don’t have anyone suitable and perhaps that's the issue.

Tav should never ever have been captain in the first place, with legendary players like greegs and Davis at the club, a ridiculous decision from day one, but I have a sneaking suspicion he felt the captain should be English, arrogance you know.
