Can I please ask what the fascination is with ex players? It hasn't worked for the last 3 so what makes it work a fourth time around?

In my opinion it's better having businessmen take care of business and football men taking care of football side.

Julian nagelsman, Jose mourinho didn't have much of a playing career. Worked out alright for them.

The biggest thing is whoever the next manager is, we need an experienced manager and not a project.
Ever since Ally has been manager it’s been projects.
Beale is a coach at best, not a manager.

It’s always been like this. If Beale gets the sack they’ll demand a Rangers man take over because he gets it - Like McCoist. Then when that fails we need foreign ideas and a manager who has won things - Like Pedro? Then that fails. We just go round and round like this.

It’s invented criteria that just so happens to rule out Beale as manager and open the door for someone else. It’s a symptom of the current emotional sentiment amongst the fanbase.

Here is the criteria for being a Rangers manager:

1. Must be able to competently manage a football team.
2. See rule number 1.

I'm prepared to give our manager michael beale until Christmas at least and then see where we are, on the condition we've lifted the league cup on the 17th of december and we go against them at breezeblock boulevard on the 30th of december, no worse than 4 points we're currently behind them nothing else is acceptable! I'm also of the opinion if we have to change beale as our manager we need to go for one of these 3 experienced manager's imo ie. marcelo bielsa with a scottish assistant as part of his backroom team ? likewise kjetil knutsen with a Scottish assistant as part of his backroom team and graham potter and billy reid as his assistant, as wee billy most certainly knows what glasgow rangers are all about ?Thoughts guys ?.

The craving for ex players typically raises its head when there's a perceived lack of passion from the players.

Sunday was the perfect example, we were flat and what we probably needed was someone with a bit of fire to do something to ignite the fans.

When we don't have it on the pitch we look to the coaching team for that connection.

Sir Walter your demands for one of those 3 managers and also picking there’s no2s is ludicrous! Any decent experienced manager would ? pick his own assistant and who’s to say any of them would be the best man for the job? You were screaming from the rooftops to get Beale in telling us all how good he would be because he wrote a couple of coaching manuals. Seems to me he should try reading them himself because if he ever knew anything about coaching he seems to have forgotten most of it!

I don't buy this 'Managers that we can afford'. The question surely is can we afford any more 'Project Managers'. In the long run they will cost us more as they enter and exit the revolving door.
We need a proven manager, (and where he has managed and what his background is is irrelevant - they just need to be a winner) . By all means bring in a Scottish Coach that knows the game up there and if they are pro rangers then that is a bonus.
They will need a healthy budget because a blind man can see that we need to significantly upgrade our current defence, (although I actually believe that a good management team would see a different player in most of those recruited by Beale) .
I don't profess to know who the best manager would be, (I'm not a fan of Knutsen and don't imagine that we could get Mourinho or Conte) .
