Re Nisbet and Shankland, fans always say they wouldn’t do it at Rangers, yet they are the ones scoring 2 and 3 each game for the past few weeks, when was the last time outwith the Killie game one of our strikers scored 2 in a match?

It’s always hard to tell Soulglow. Yes Nesbit and Shankland have been scoring a lot, but the way the teams they play set up is very differently to when they face us. When hearts or Hibs play St Johnstone, Aberdeen or Killie, these teams don’t sit with 9 or 10 players in their own box, stifling every bit of space. They therefore get much more freedom and tend to only have one defender marking them, so beat that marker and good chance they’re getting a shot on goal. That wouldn’t be the case if they were playing with us.

We’ve seen it plenty of times before when we’ve taken on players who the previous season have banged in goals for fun (O’Hallaron, or even the likes of Sandaza and big John Daly when we were in lower leagues and yet they couldn’t score against packed defences) . Who knows, maybe they could do a job, we’ve seen players in the past who could make the step up and adapt the way they played to suit playing for us (Billy Dodds and Kenny Miller) .

The thing is though Hearts and Hibs would probably want silly money if we came calling. I know Hibs accepted around £2/ £2.5 from Millwall but would they accept that from us? And Hearts are already hinting at silly money for Shankland. So would we risk splashing out high figures on players that may not be able to adapt to playing against packed defences?

That was 3 yr ago with the goal records for this season both nisbet n shankland would be worth more than alfie if his deal was not ending in the summer.

Personally yes alfie a scorer holds up play for others etc but i think nissy great striker an would score for fun in a better team than hibs with getting more chances and i would prefer nissy all day long over shankland.
