Just thinking out loud.

Might be best to wait and see what we get for Aribo instead of speculating, guessing, quoting pals in the know and then arguing about whether or not it is correct or high enough.

Only facts available

1 the our board will do the very best to get the very best deal for our club.
2 The board will not sell him if someone does not meet our valuation
3. Everything else is noise.

Correct dk

Wonder how many have actually represented a player in a transfer. It’s not so easy, when dealing with experts and experienced clubs and DoF.

Hopefully we can get this deal concluded quickly and bring in quality players, concerned about our lack of transfers this window.

John25, you don't have to be involved or have experience of the minutae of transfers to know that 6m, as quoted is not a realistic figure for a talent and athlete such as Aribo!

The 10m buyout clause meant that 10m was the max we would receive. Looks like 6m plus add-ons. Good business for Southampton given that they are getting an established Nigerian international. Southampton have paid more for other players with far less experience this year. I would have thought that we would have been able to get closer to the 10m up front. Experience has told me that we can't and shouldn't trust the board to always get it right.

Would be disappointed with £6m up front tbh but it’s not an ideal situation. £8m up front with £2m add ons sounds about right and sell on. Think we can live with it however, important we get a fee and could do some decent business with £6m I would imagine if we re-invest it all.

Wasn't it John who said and I agree that he would rather take a smaller upfront payment and a healthy sell on clause?

Gents what I would say is it’s a blogger who said 6 million and near everyone believes it.
Other sites saying 8 million, with easy achievement off add ons.
Then Southampton paper saying 30% sell on

I would take all that in a nano second for a player who wants to move, if he goes now he gets us great return on 300k investment.
