But I do take your point. However if u look at Ukraine and Russia they give citizenship to and play Brazilians have done for years. Spain had Diego Costa, Brazilian. They have Laporte, drench. Portugal had deco, Brazilian. France have numerous n I mean numerous players who aren’t french over the years, same with Holland. Some of the African countries take players who aren’t good enough to play for France Holland England and so on back to there countries of their placenta to play. So if it suits
All the above then why not us? Personally I would exploit every rule under the sun to give us the best possible le chance of success. Everyone else

He was on the blues brothers podcast last year saying he was at the 1990 World Cup and we played Sweden. A Swedish TV news company heard he was born in Sweden and asked him for a live interview for Swedish news. Gough agreed to the interview and he said they started interviewing him in Swedish and he didn't have a clue what they were saying because he doesn't speak any Swedish. Sitting live on TV looking like a right tool.

Ingerr. Richard Gough was born in Johannesburg and brought up there.
A Scottish father and a Swedish mother. So u r correct he is South African.

He was 100% born in Sweden and moved to S Africa when he was a young child. His parents worked in England at the time and his father being a proud Scotsman didn't want him born English so his mother went home to Stockholm to give birth to him.
