Just a question to throw out there guys. Now Glasgow CC have said clear up bill for George SQ debacle is £58,000, including damage repairs. What's your thoughts guys on The people who disobeyed the messaging from our Club, and the Police, and arrogantly posted about organising this March on the City Centre. Do these people have Rangers Football Club at heart? Or are these so called fans just as rogue now as the other mobs " Brigade"

55🇬🇧.

In my opinion those who broke lock down rules are a disgrace to the club the way they behaved was an embarrassment to RFC the days of singing sectarian songs should be left behind our manager is RC and a load of our players are RC the club are trying hard to rid us of this but some will not move into the modern world as for certain MSPs they should think before they post on Twitter all they have done is fan the flames of hate but the behaviour all the way to George Swuare and in the square was a disgrace and only those who caused this damage need to answer for it.

Thanks twacoos. you can’t stop someone buying a footbal strip or a flag and attaching themselves to a Club externally, however, you CAN identify those within UB’s who drag our club into the gutter and then think it’s ok to start coming back into the stadium next season.

Anyone denying they damaged statues, and pissed everywhere, are as bad as them

The people hanging of statues which are a very very important part of our city’s history, are not real Rangers fans

I would be very surprised if the cost isn’t far more than that

These people know exactly what they were doing, they knew there’s was going to be running battles, stabbing and rangers name would be dragged through the dirt,

They didn’t care,

Optimizm : sorry I agree I’d like to know how many actually attend games and if any who are found guilty in a court of law should be banned for life to show people like that are not welcome inside Ibrox we need to get away from all this we have a squad from all backgrounds and they deserve the respect of the fans.

Agree Tomthumb12.

I just don’t want Rangers to get in a position like that lot across the road where they accommodated a vile mob who pose as fans. Rangers should be better than that and I hope work is going on behind the scenes to identify and expel the offenders.

Additionally, with a European campaign coming up and those scenes in George Sq going world wide, we can’t give UEFA a single reason to hammer us due to our previous. . you can only communicate with these people with action because they never listened to the plea by The Club the claim to support.

I agree with you twacoos. If proven you were in George SQ which was illegal in itself under the level 3 lockdown laws, and you are convicted of a crime it should be a lifetime ban.

East Belfast

58k includes damage to statues. Did you personally see the 4 street cleaners?

They should not have been there behaving like baboons attaching themselves and the vile sectarianism to Rangers Football Club. Our Roman Catholic Manager stood shoulder to shoulder with Glen Kamala when he was racially abused AND YET, these muppets who DO NOT represent to proud traditions of RFC don’t even seem to be potty trained never mind capable of understanding basic instructions from Rangers or the police and that is because THE ARE NOT FANS!

How much of this is passed down from generation to generation, the and whole Orange order rhing? I was naive as a teenager and sang those songs but eventually grew up. The Protestant Catholic thing is ingrained in Scottish society starting with segregated schools. If kids see their parents spouting Sectarian bile then they will too.

The majority of songs a can hear fans sing is ever sat we follow but am sure if u look hard enough to find ones were or other add ons u will find them.

I agree East Belfast, the problem we have is that the media and the other mob and the SFA and the SNP are not interested in the 95% sensible law abiding fans - they want to portray the other 5% of idiots who cannot drag themselves out of the dark ages, as being THE NORM. I’ve got a cousin with a life ban because he couldn’t sing a song without inserting an “” - he’s been banned for 15 years now and it has still not taught him a lesson - so if guilty of an offence which could damage our multi-cultural, multi-faith club. keep them away from official RFC events, Games etc.

The threat of Strict Liability (Guilty by Association inside or outside the Stadium - with the liability on the Club ) can never be enforced or proven in a court of law. If it could you’ll have fans buying rival strips committing crimes to get the other team in bother. . but let’s not give the SNP any more independence ammo.

Represent Rangers with dignity whether player or supporter. You represent our club. Just think on that fellow Gers fans. When those colours are on, you represent Rangers Football Club.

Not that it matters, but our manager is not an RC. He chose to go to a catholic school for football reasons. As for the rest of it, most of you are correct. How can we possibly call out the east end **** when some of our so-called fans behave that way? I have faced them up in places from Barcelona to Munich and even on planes, and it's time we all did.

Otimizm if the club banned everybody at george square we may very soon find our selves bankrupt again. U have no idea how many ST holder were there. They may all have been. It was always going to happen. People out with glasgow were celebrating in beer gardens up and down the uk. Just cause you were at george square or ibrox does not merit a ban.

100% correct Paul as the majority of fans behaved as well that day it was a minority that didn’t.

Stop rising to the bait .

£58000 is equal to 250 guys working for a day along with 5 street cleaning machines and 10l of bleach.

It didn’t happen but the headlines it made has Rangers fans in a tizzie.

Ya son loyal your statement re Gerrard not being a Roman Catholic is wrong mate. He is.
I had a debate with 2 others on the site over a month ago and went away and done my research and he is. His whole family are, and so are his wife’s. As u say not that it matters? It kind of does matter mate as some “fans” can’t stop singing about F the pope and feni** b’s and awe the rest when the guy in our dugout who they all claim to adore like a god is a Catholic. Along with his whole family and many many of our current squad ie borna and Alfie just to name a few. We’ve had Catholic captains in amoruso so tbh mate it does matter. It’s beyond hypocrisy and beyond a joke.
Gerrard was married in a Roman Catholic ceremony, I previously typed the exact date and place this took place, to be married Roman Catholic u must be Roman Catholic. End of point really.
However I delved into his family and how his older cousin John-Paul (named after the pope of the time) who died in the Hillsborough tragedy had been an alter boy at the local Catholic Church, other cousins with names like Anthony and thingswhich to me are Catholic names. There was more to it than that but I looked right into it.
Gerrard atrended a Catholic primary school which I named, this was prior to the “sports academy” which he later attended and although he chose that on the advice of his p. e teacher for its superior football teams he would have been going to a Catholic high school regardless. Go do your homework mate 👍🏼.

I don't have to do any homework, I interviewed him in November 2000. I also read his autobiography which confirms my previous post. To be married RC you must be RC? What does that even mean? I have family and friends who were married in RC churches who were not, and still are not, RCs. Gerrard attended Huyton with Roby Primary, a Church of England school. He left there to go to Cardinal Heenan RC school because he was advised to do so for football reasons as it came under the Liverpool authority while his local secondary did not. The rest of your post hardly bears comment. Go do some real homework mate, instead of trying to pass off your notions and nonsense as fact.

Paul 86

Read my post mate, I said if anyone was convicted of an offence they should be banned - or would the Lawyers defence to the judge be “ My Lord - you simply cannot ban my client in case Rangers go skint again? ”

Football fans are subject to the Laws of the Land like everyone else - there cannot be an exception.

By the way, ingerrardwetrust, he never attended an 'academy' as he was not selected for Lillieshall.

DK19

2 questions:

1. Does the 10l of bleach in you cleaning estimate repair physical damage to physical property in George Sq? Including restoration of statues?

2. You say “It didn’t happen”. What “didn’t happen? ”.

22.) 26 May 2021
26 May 2021 15:19:44
Well researched and explained Ingerrard mate.

This sectarianism is a Scots and Irish thing, I've said before I worked Down South for several years and never ever encountered Catholic or Protestant sectarianism .

I did meet some anti Scots racism and my name was the statutory "Jock".

Things changed after a few days when we got to know each other on first name terms (my real name is Billy) Bill by the way guys.

26 May 2021 16:00:17
Blubilly, 'well researched'? You're having a laugh, it's completely made up fantasy! Even a desultory wikipedia check will show you that in about 5 seconds. It quite clearly says that although NOT a Catholic and living outside the catchment area, Gerrard attended Cardinal Heenan Catholic High School upon the recommendation of his primary school teacher, whose husband was a PE teacher there, due to its superior football reputation over more local schools. There was me thinking every real fan would have known that, it's our great manager's life we are talking about here.

24.) 26 May 2021
26 May 2021 17:23:43
FACT - Gerrard is not a RC, not that it matters anyway.
FACT - a report confirms the statues required repair work as far back as 2019.
FACT - Rangers already punish all fans by removing their season tickets if they have been found guilty of misdemeaners whilst "representing" the club.
FACT - 2 other gatherings in George Square ( both in support of Palestine ) the week previously and the following day to the Rangers celebration show these demonstrators climbing statues and standing on raised flower beds.
OPINION - it wasn't the big bad UB's fault.
Now none of the above makes the action of a few ( 28 arrests ) ok.

Ok guys, so I'm wrong again (nothing new there) .

That's what I get for not doubting a poster's post that looked like it was well researched to me.

Ah well, spose just have to not believe a word of any posts.
