If, In this difficult window to find a decent sniffer/ finisher, maybe time to turn Dessers into that very striker. His first touch seems to be the obstacle. I know you can't teach am old dog new tricks but maybe, just maybe. With hopefully Tom Lawrence keeping fit and Matondo actually learning how to run at defences with the ball, we could have a decent double act plus . maybe no other option as the window seems bare of any decent strikers as clubs demand silly money for them if they want a move. But is it enough to compete in Europe and win #56?

If we could somehow move Cantwell, Matondo and Roofe on in the summer it frees up also 100k a week in wages. Matondo reminds me of forest gump, just puts his head down and runs, never passes the ball near the goal.

So your suggesting that we can coach his first touch to be better. Can we also teach him to finish quicker and more decisively and can we also improve his speed about the pitch . Its a lot of work to be done on a guy who is 28 and who we spent a fair bit of cash on thinking we were getting an experienced striker not a young development project. He should be working on all these things but it is a bit late in his career to expect too much improvement now.

wslgers. I said Maybe. But I get your point. circumstance may dictate my post. the only defence I have on my take is that he did score a goal that helped put us into the last 16 Europa. That goal may well go towards the high amount we paid for him. just a thought.

I Agree herbert, roofe being out of contract is a bonus. The other two on massive money and underperform. For the guts of 100k we need a lot beter.

Dessers will score his share of goals but he can be very frustrating I agree. I think we need more goals from midfield, that would take a bit of pressure off him.

I Think you are being a bit hysterical hubby, I Never suggested any figure mate. what's with the aggro? if you read it properly you'll see that the wages of roofe cantwell matondo is the best part of 100k is what herbert said. I Agreed that we need better value for our money. the 3 of them wil be a lot more than 50k. Easily 75k which is the best part of 100k.

deecee, there are times where Dessers looks good, his finish in Seville and his pass for McCausland against Killie to name two, so there is a player in there but his main fault for me is just his lack of urgency, he takes far too many touches when chances fall to him and he never seems to just put the laces through the ball and get some power in his shooting . I just think he is now the player he is always going to be and although he should be working to improve his game, I don`t think he can change enough to be our main striker . At the moment I wouldn`t chase him out the door as he still has a part to play but we do need to find better this window.
