Rangers linked to Sam Lammers and Cyril Dessers this morning according to Football Scotland on twitter. Lammers is on loan at Sampdoria from Atlanta and has 1 goal and 1 assist in 19 games.

Lammers had really great stats at youth level in Holland and took that to senior team. Earned move to Italy for over 10m. Move to Italy hasn't worked out but for me doesn't mean he doesn't have talent.

Cyriel Dessers was great for Feyenoord last season so probably the best option out the 2 imo, a good physical option as well. That seems to be a theme with almost all the players we have been linked with, they are all 6ft plus which to me is a good thing as we have been lacking some height in recent seasons.

@Stoozie - Beale wrote an article about Scottish football a few years ago. In it, he spoke about him and Gerrard initially recruiting tech Al players for Rangers. However, the league is refereed to a different standard with a lot more physicality allowed by the referees. Plus, the first pass is often an 80 yard punt which negates the high press. Beale recognised that physically was required and that is when people like Bassey came in.

Rangers target players that are technical and physical, or exceptional in one of those areas. So yes, big physical players is something you should expect from Beale’s recruitment.

@verdantabyss yeah i noticed it did become a theme later into Gerrards tenure, its the way to go especially when 90% of the time you're playing against hammer throwers. Getting the balance of physicality and tech ability is the tough bit though eh.
