Just heard " " on the radio - Gerard and backroom team apparently agree 2.5yr deal at Villa. Welcome back Graeme Murty.

2.5 year deal, so that his deal runs out in 2024, same time as Klopp’s at Liverpool. Wonder how happy the Villa fans will be that he is so obviously just using them as a step in his journey to Liverpool? Does well over the next 2.5 years and he slides straight into the Liverpool job. His plan has always been to get him into a position for the Liverpool job by the time Klopp’s contract was up. Obviously he was starting to fear that staying with us wasn’t going to be good enough. Maybe it had been suggested to him by folk at Liverpool that they wanted to see how he does at a higher level than Scotland? Basically I don’t think he’s ever felt as strongly about Rangers as we would like to think that he does or that he’s ‘suggested’ he does. We were always just a ‘step on his master plan’ of getting to Liverpool. At the time when he gave that answer about the Newcastle job I had concerns. He never categorically stated he wasn’t going to leave or had no intention of going anywhere. It seemed like an answer to ‘shut down the question’ without actually making a firm commitment. It would of been easy for him to say, ‘look I’m the manger of Glasgow Rangers and I’m not even remotely interested in going anywhere else, I won’t be leaving’. But he didn’t, and I think we see why now. I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s been considering leaving ever since we didn’t make the champs league.

Storm, general consensus seems to be much like ours when he joined us - not sure he's right but willing to give him a chance. Only a couple "ain't happy".

GVB seems like the only stand out John and logical choice? Really hope so.

I never thought he would of went to Villa. He won't win anything there, thinks its a mistake good luck to him, who will be our next manager.

Correct John, the club will still be here when we are all long gone. We move on to the next chapter.

Wouldn’t complain about GVB but I must say I would prefer a British manager and someone with experience. As for Gerrard I think it’s a massive mistake on his part I think he and Villa will be relegated this season and he’ll be stuck in the championship for a while bringing an end to the dream of managing Liverpool! And given how this has all been handled by him and his staff I say good enough for him!

Im not happy about leaving mid season but the writing has been on the wall when he didn’t get any of his too picks in the summer. But to Villa? More money less trophies. I worry for the rest of the season and the next Transfer window. As i think a lot of players will want to leave. Hope i'm wrong but this could be the first domino to fall.

Gio has more experience and success than Gerrard had. £4.5m plus Gio it's a lottery win really, get it done. Netherlands a fantastic market and he knows it well.

G1978, so you would have preferred him to lie to appease you for a couple of weeks and then you could call him everything under the sun for braking his word. Weird!

Why do we think a lot of our players will leave. there were not a lot of acceptable offers last window. Gerrad is not going to be coming in for them. so where are they going to be going. they are professionals and know how things work if they want a move they need to be in team playing well or no chance of move. let's hope board seen this coming and had planned for it. they didn't seem in any rush to try and keep gerrad. whoever get job needs all our support. upwards and onwards to 56.

Gers58, I reckon that Gerrard will be in for Kent in January. As for our other top players, a lot will depend on who comes in as manager.

We need someone that will command respect. We go for some out of work Scottish Failure and I can't see many wanting to stay, especially if we are out of Europe and trailing in the league!
