Seems to me like Beale had an idea of his system and team through pre season and the defeat at Kilmarnock made him question this and he changed. It’s obvious he likes the 442 diamond or a variation of 442. For me he has to stick to the courage of his convictions and give the new guys a prolonged run in the team to see what they can do. If all fit for the next few games I hope to see a team of

I agree that the 4-3-1-2 looks promising. We actually used this at formation against Celtic when we beat them 3-0. Cantwell sat right on top of McGregor for 90mins and pressed relentlessly. That’s arguable been our best performance under, Beale.

Cantwell’s performance that day was one of the best I’ve seen from a Rangers player in about a year. I’d have him as our number 10, pressing and creating behind the strikers. No clue what our best midfield 3 or strike partnership would be. We just haven’t seen enough of these players yet.

I agree that MB had this system in mind, however I just don't think we've bought the players to play it.

Raskin is a hell of a footballer, but he can't play as the lone pivot in a diamond - it just doesn't suit him.

Likewise, in your line up you have Cantwell as on of the two midfielder - again, for me he's just not suited to that role.

Finally, this system exposes both Tav and Bornas weaknesses and serious restricts their strengths - so to replace them and the goals they provide is a massive gamble.

We need a system that suits our best players and gives them the platform to flourish - as I actually think we've got some real quality in the squad.

I know Beale doesn’t play a 4231, however, I think it’s the best system for the players he has brought in. The system doesn’t need to mean we have 2 holders if the FBs are allowed to join attacks and 1 sits giving the other CDM freedom of moving into forward spaces. Cantwell has to be our 10 and provide the link and guile from middle to our 9, he wouldn’t have allowed McGregor the time or space to have so many touches before making passes (we made him look good) . The press has to be as a team and the big question about yesterday is Did Beale instruct us to sit off or did the players not understand the role (that’s esp in the middle of the park) .
Team I’d go with for next half dozen games with changes based on form only.
Butland.
Tav, Goldson, Souttar, Ridvan.
Cifu, Raskin.
Sima, Cantwell, Roofe.
Danilo.

This is part of the problem with Beales system if you ask me.

Playing 2 up front does not work if you want to press teams. It's why the majority of winning teams play some version of a 3 up front.

It also gives more protection to the full backs as the players on the side cover the opposition full back coming forward and also keep them honest as can be caught by the same players if they do come forward.

What we have is our central midfielders constantly covering the full backs because of the incredibly narrow front 2. This is preventing them from being the engine of the team driving forward. Performances from all our CMs this season has been poor and that is why IMO.

How many times against PSV did they have a 3 on 2 out wide. We blamed our FBs and CMs for not going with runners but in truth they were over ran in that area of the park.

I feel as if Beale is trying to hard to be clever with his formation but its just not working. If there is anyway back from here he needs to ditch it immediately and start playing a variation of 3 up top with width.

The game we beat them 3-0 was a dead rubber it meant nothing they already won the league nothing to play for as they won it all.

We can’t keep playing the same defence that concedes soft goals, same as previous seasons over the piece it won’t work, we needed new blood in there, but we are where we are and until we do something like this I can’t see us turning things around

Change to be more of a team that creates thru the middle with some pace up top and stop this dire slow build up from the full backs, Raskin and Dowell couldn’t decide between those two, thought Dowell has looked ok when he has had the odd 10 minutes!
I know a lot will say the same things but in my opinion if we don’t have the courage to do something similar then it will be the same results.
I would have put Ridvan as left back but so far has dissapointed so opted for Davis to do a job similar to what Papic used to do and he can fill in as part of a five when needed.

Boys, how can we sit here and realistically say drop Tav and Goldson? They are the two highest earners at the club. This year we binned squad players on massive wages to free up funds simply because we had no budget for transfers without it. We pay Ben Davies a kings ransom to warm the bench. The boy is honking. Who sanctioned the deal for him? What I see in our recruitment is terrible. We buy once hyped players who can't get a game for their current clubs because they will be cheap/ free. We have to pay them large sums of money to get them to sign as they lose out on signing fees with reduced transfer prices and hope to hell they show us the quality that got them so hyped. I can't believe the majority of you think Cantwell and Raskin are players. Cifuentes, did anyone actually watch any MLS games or did you watch the youtube highlight reels before he signed. Same with that no hoper Dowell. Mick said he watched Lammers for a while and was a player he really liked, The boy had 4 goals in his last 3 seasons man. We seem to be the only club who have such a horrendous recruitment department like this. Be realistic, there is not one player in our starting 11 that would make the Celtic squad. Maybe Butland but that is it. We pay over the odds for utter dross that nobody else seems to be interested in. Who was our competition for any of our summer signings? That's right, we had none.

Is no one taking into consideration the fact that most of the Gers players cannot play nice football?
Just from the last few games it shows we can barely string any meaningful passes together going forward. can't find a team mate. Our players don't run into space. It honestly seems like the Gers forwards just follow the defender lol.
Compare that to Celtic on Sunday, finding pockets of space and passing to a team mates feet. Kyogo's goal is another example where our clearance straight to a Celtic man who headers it in between our two defenders and boom. goal.
We are great at passing it from side to side between our defenders but the the ball needs to go forward to score goals.
Tav and Bronas crossing has been very poor for a the longest time too and does not look to be changing.

The team seem to have lost that hope and drive and belief.
