The Europa League Groups are nearly upon us again.
A magnificent achievement for the club as we qualify for the 4th year running ( though I've still got a slight tinge of disappointment at our CL exploits ) .
A source of much needed revenue as we strive for better on and off the park.
We've already had some magnificent nights at Ibrox.
Victories over Feyenoord and Porto before the wonderful comeback victory over Braga in 2019 / 2020.
Followed up by topping the group in 2020 / 2021 undefeated with victories over Lech Poznan and Liege and the draw with Benfica.
This was followed up by the destruction of Antwerp in an 9-5 aggregate victory where Morelos had a hand in 8 of the 9 goals!
How we need that Morelos and others to turn up on Thursday.
Lyon are up first and they haven't exactly set the season on fire so far with 2W, 2D and 1 loss from their opening 5 league fixtures.
They have scored and conceded 8 goals.
It could be another game where whoever has the best defence will come out on top.
They have a very talented squad with household names such as Shaqiri, Boateng and Marcelo.
And we will re-acquaint ourselves with a couple of familiar foes from the East End - Denayer and the $100 billion Demebele Dollar.
If we play to our potential, I fancy a Rangers win to get us off to a flyer before the difficult trip to Prague and the double header against Brondby.

The problem is when have we played to our full potential this season? 2nd half against Celtic and I can't remember any other time. Thursday night is a massive leap from what we have played against.

Totally agree Sweep. That's why I said "if".
We can make plenty of excuses regarding consistency of selection due to injuries, CV, suspensions etc but at some point the players available have to stand up and be counted.
They should be taken inspiration from Balogun's performance at RB against Celtic.
And others like Kent, Morelos, Kamara, Davis, Aribo all need to play to there potential together in the same game.
You can't afford passengers at this level.

Maybe this is the perfect game for us to really kick start our season. We haven’t came up against any quality sides yet. Malmö were ok but not a patch on Lyon and same goes for Celtic who aren’t a great team. Maybe it’ll take us competing against higher quality players for the team to really up the tempo. Time will tell just can’t wait for Thursday night nothing beats a euro night at ibrox.

It doesn't matter who has stepped up so far ( I'm with Cunny regarding Aribo ) , too many haven't performed all at the same time.
We will be a different team once we actually start performing as a team again.
Defence collectively need to step it up. It's ok saying Bassey or Helander have a good game but it means nothing if the others are having a nightmare.
Same with the midfield and front 3.
And we know it's all about the 3 points but the lack of performance will come back and bite us on the arse at some point.
