Morning Guys, a friend from Holland massive PSV fan (really dislikes us haha) has said we are sniffing around a FC Twente left back called Gijs Smal. Last year of contract, valued around 5 million, big strong, very technical, lovely left foot. Has anyone heard anything along these lines, he told me on Sunday but been too busy to post?

Yilmaz needs a run if he can stay fit which must be a concern, though tonight I think we will see Barasic do well he was immense last week which was quite the surprise .

Yilmaz can't attack, his final ball is terrible, he can't attack and he's always injured, he's 5 foot 4 also. Not saying he won't come good but for me this Gijs Smal looks a player, strong fast athletic, left food like Borna had 10 assists last season and he isn't a nervous wreck like Borna and doesn't hurt that's he's around 6 foot 2. If we can get rid out Ridvan and Borna i'd love this boy to get signed but he'll likely end up in Italy or Germany as we are not the only club scouting him from what i was told.

Though Borna maybe thinks he's in the shop window, that happens a lot with players . He's gone from dopey to very good all of a sudden .

Borna was good last season. He had 9 assists and 1 goal in the SPFL. He had one of the top 5 overall match ratings for the season.

Also, look at how quickly people criticise delivery when Borna or Tavernier aren’t there. People cry out for a full-back who is better at defending but they will detest the lack of crossing ability.

Bigjorg, yes sounds like a player that guy, I agree mostly on what you say re Yilmaz and Borna, thought Borna has played well for a fortnight which was nice. except going to sleep at the Killie goal and another 75 mins or so there of course .

I think we would happily move either of the 2 left backs on if a suitable bid came in for one of them.
We’ve been linked with a few left backs in the last week or less.
It’s my belief sterling will make left back his position soon enough if we don’t sign a new leftback anyway
I like borna and yilmaz I feel will come good if gave the chance but if we can upgrade the position in anyway then I’m all for it.

I’d happily bring doig in with the ridvan money and keep bb til the summer and let him leave on a free.
Loan pour Devine for regular game time and leaves us with 2 rb’s n 2 left backs.

Tom Yilmaz played very well the last games of the season, he had a better game against the tims than Barisic has done this full Rangers career.

I think yilmaz a great player aswell, I think if we stick with him he will come good.
Also agree with Beale that he played great towards end a last season when he got a wee run.

However I’d rather have doig in the team if we could get him an do was a straight choice.

Don't get this about doig struggled to get in his team from half way through the season, if I've got a choice I'm taking Yilmaz everyday of the week and every week after.

Naw a kinda tool that to be the case mate as I’ve seen either u before or maybe others have said that he dropped out the team last season. I know he’s been linked with Bologna but for some reason it was going to be player swap for doig I dunno why not cash.

@Verdant having looked up Smal last season he had 2 goals d 10 assists in Dutch league, he's a bigger stronger Unit and to my knowledge not a bottler like Borna although untested as he only plays for Fc Twente. He does look very left footed, his crossing and set plays look on a par and he's only 25. As previous i don't know how serious we are or how much it would cost to get him but he's a massive upgrade on what we have already.

Re Borna being good last season, he's good when we don't need him you know it and i know it when he faces Celtic he will revert back to type and freeze like a deer in the headlights. He need stronger Physically and stronger mentally if we are to progress and Borna for me Borna has the weakest mentals of any Rangers Player I've witnessed in my years supporting the club.
